Please read response below to GCSE resit 2025 situation. Not only but also curriculum approach. The resit world is rich with consequences of society’s shortcomings, society should respect this, policy makers should take note, funding priorities & infrastructure should definitely reflect this.
Let’s talk about #climatechange: ‘to equip learners to rise to the challenges of a sustainable future” …pedagogies of hope…positive stories of resilience, innovation and transformation, rather than negative stories of loss and destruction.” Inspiring work to model ⬇️⬇️

“These days, Americans in the poorest 10th of the population draw about 1.8% of the nation’s income, about the same as poor Bolivians. In Nigeria, they reap 3%, in China 3.1%, in Bangladesh 3.7%.” Fascinating article on rich getting richer and…⬇️
China has brought millions out of poverty. The US has not – by choice.

The UK is following the US model. Wealth concentrated in fewer hands. 24m can't attain minimum standard of living, real average wage unchanged since 2008, public services eroded, profiteering is rife.

Despite the US’s economic success, income inequality remains breathtaking. But this is no glitch – it’s the system

Probably won’t see this in mainstream media - aka the right wing press - coz it’s against their narrative. Wind energy in Britain broke a new record last week with nearly 23GW on the grid one cold windy evening. That was 56% of all electricity on Britain’s grid.

Such a great thought piece here from @tesmagazine.bsky.social by headteacher James Searjeant on damaging limitations imposed by/ impact of - current accountability measures & assessment system :
“Above all, it means remembering that education is a human enterprise, not a statistical exercise.”
"We are constantly finding those gaps in the hedges, small spaces where we can reshape curriculum and pedagogy to meet the diverse needs of twenty-first century learners. Yet while our practice evolves, assessment procedures have not kept pace."

www.tes.com/magazine/ana...
School autonomy shouldn’t mean having to find ‘gaps in hedges’
If we want to be a truly inclusive education system, the assessment and accountability frameworks that penalise inclusion need to be changed, argues this headteacher

With over 20 million article reads under our belt, we’re very serious about building a grassroots citizen journalism alternative to the billionaire-owned mainstream media.

And we can do it on an absolute shoestring too. That’s the revolutionary beauty of it.

The govt's proposed new asylum laws are impractical, ineffectual, and outright cruel. Aping the rhetoric of Reform won't fix the real issues in this country; it will only stir up more false divisions and endanger already vulnerable communities.

Useful links at the end to responses from other bodies in the English community. That's my weekend reading sorted.
