A trans woman on tiktok posted about getting her gender marker changed on her Florida drivers license. Florida investigated her over it, canceled her license, and then leaked the story to libs of tiktok to announce it publicly to humiliate her.
The image shows a tweet by "Libs of TikTok" (@libsoftiktok), reporting on a trans activist who allegedly exploited a loophole in Florida law to change their gender marker on their driver's license. The tweet states that the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) responded with a letter acknowledging the error and promising to address it. It also claims Florida law does not permit gender marker changes based on gender identity and alleges the activist may have lied about losing their license to facilitate the change. Below the tweet, two elements are visible: a video still of the activist smiling and holding their license, and a letter from the FLHSMV dated January 6, 2025. The image is a detailed letter from the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), dated January 6, 2025, addressing the improper change of a driver's license gender marker from male to female. It explains that the change violated Florida law, which defines "sex" based on biological and genetic characteristics and prohibits alterations based on gender identity. The letter confirms the cancellation of the improperly issued license, issuing a corrected license instead. It also discusses potential misrepresentation of facts during the application process and warns of legal consequences for providing false information. The letter is signed by Dave Kerner, Executive Director.
