A bookish pedestrian in Northern California. Just here to chit-chat (not to represent any orgs, employers, or clients)
Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don't they warn ya?
It pours, man, it pours

Californians for originalism (i.e., the supremacy of CARB's authority to regulate tailpipe emissions, over the US EPA that was founded years later)

Must be a slow news day since the @calmatters.org front page is telling us that maybe modular housing will happen this year... and their go-to Republican columnist still doesn't like taxes or Newscum

Congratulations to San Francisco's teachers union -- as well as to the families who made due during the strike -- for demonstrating what "shared governance" can accomplish

Lower the cost of living by permitting more multi-family housing in the wealthiest ZIP codes in the country?

Wouldn't it just be easier to pay people directly say San Mateo County Supervisors...

Claude, make me a website with a front page like Huff Post

Next write an agentic workflow to run whenever I post to Twitter -- err, X. Turn each post into an article following Axios SmartBrevity format

End each article with a call-to-action related to Abundance

San Francisco Fire Station 6 is on that block, by Market St.

There was a wind gust warning today. Waymo robots often get befuddled by downed trees, but not often on them.

Is it time for the Salesforce board to strongly suggest Benioff retire full time to Hawaii? Dude went from having the best PR in the bay to being an unpredictable loudmouth
New: marc benioff told international employees who traveled to a major salesforce meeting in Vegas that ICE is watching them. Cool joke.

"employees are going absolutely apeshit about how completely awful it was"

One single local BRT line in Oakland (AC Transit Tempo) serves more riders than the entire VTA Light Rail system, and has a Cost Effectiveness that rivals our top *regional* transit services

Bay Area should be super-funding East Bay BRT if they distributed funding based on objective metrics

Bad news: Vision Zero policies and action plans haven't eliminated traffic deaths

Good news: It's significantly safer to live/walk/bike/drive in a city that is working on VZ
"A preliminary analysis of Vision Zero policies showed that the 17 early adopter cities experienced a smaller increase in fatalities per 100,000 population (+15%) than the other 83 cities (+40%) (Figure 2)."

Fewer deaths are always better than more.

Today marks one year since Don Shoup died. I put on a jacket I didn’t realize I wore last at our memorial lunch, pockets stuffed with Kleenex.

In Don’s memory today, think about how you commit yourself to change and leave a legacy of passion and love behind.

When my younger kid (who never got to go to a Fry's, unlike his older sister) asked for an LED over the winter holidays, I drove him all the way down to the new Micro Center in Santa Clara. Illogical for a 5 cent part but the experience of an in-person electronics store was worth the hassle
OK, and we need to bring back Radio Shack/Fry's.
