Empathy is fundamentally what makes us human. It's what drives our connection to others and allowed us as a species to survive. Without it, people devolve into murderous psychopaths.

It's no wonder fascists who want to commit mass violence and murder see it as a "sin." It's pure moral inversion.

"The sin of empathy" is a phrase I saw by one of these fascists that has stayed with me.

In order to commit atrocities, you must eliminate empathy. You must dehumanize people to the point where empathy is impossible in order to get tacit assent by a population to commit mass violence and murder.
oh good he’s doing Nietzsche quotes that’s never a sign of anything worrying 🙄

it's cool that we are seeing our government enthusiastically handed over to an unelected immigrant who is liquidating our country like he did Twitter. anyone with any power not standing up to this and throwing their bodies on the gears are complicit.

There isn't a country on earth where this oligarch won't take his outsize ego and try to influence its political system.

It is dangerous to allow such a fundamentally bad man to have so much money and power.

Like Marie Antoinette always used to say: "Let them eat (wedding) cake."

Just vile.
In the 1940s there was a 90% tax bracket at a certain level to ensure America would not become an oligarchy. It was only abolished about 60 years ago.

Time to reconsider.

The Musk model: just accuse everyone else of lying while you tell demonstrable lies, again and again.

And millions believe it.

We are in an unbelievably dangerous moment for democracy right now, with the entire public square polluted and undermined by the tech bosses.

A couple people are like “she’s actually barely lost any net worth” and that’s kind of the point: you can do an incredible amount of stuff and give away billions of dollars and not even notice it and 95% of rich people won’t even do that because they’re nihilist assholes
The contrast really is striking isn’t it

this is disgusting and it troubles me that our elected leaders are pretending everything is normal and this is just politics.
The continuing resolution axed by Elon and co included a SNAP benefits extension. Now that it won't get passed soon, families will literally be going hungry during the holidays because of the world's richest man.
