When I was ten, my uncle gave me a Kasparov chess computer. Last night I was lucky enough to have dinner with Kasparov. I also learned that Daniel Naroditsky, whose YouTube videos rekindled my love for chess, had passed away. I'll be thinking about them both for a long time.

The Open Web was built on a fair exchange: content in return for visitors. AI broke that deal. We need new systems to support creators, not leave them behind. My thoughts on the forward: dri.es/the-webs-bro... /cc @cloudflare.social #openweb #ai
The web's broken deal with AI companies
AI companies are breaking the web's economic model by extracting content without compensating creators, but new enforcement tools and content licensing marketplaces could restore fair compensation.

A few weeks ago, I started exploring how AI can improve alt-text for images on my website. What seemed like a simple fix turned into a multi-step challenge. In my latest post, I share how I'm scaling this process to handle 9,000 images while keeping some control over quality. dri.es/automating-a...

I tested 12 LLMs to generate alt-text for 9,000 images missing descriptions. Not surprisingly, cloud models performed best. For local options, Llama variants and MiniCPM-V were ok. Local models align with my values, but cloud models would serve visually impaired users better. dri.es/generating-i...

I updated my website, https://dri.es/, to the latest version of Drupal, which is Drupal 10.0.9. It's incredible to see how much work goes into each release, even into a bug fix release. You can get a good sense by checking out the release notes: https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/releases/10.0.9.
drupal 10.0.9
This is a patch (bugfix) release of Drupal 10 and is ready for use on production sites. Learn more about Drupal 10. Drupal 10.0.x will receive security coverage until December 2023. Important update information If you are updating from Drupal 9, refer to Preparing your site to upgrade to a newer major version for tools you can use to check the Drupal 10 compatibility of modules, themes and sites. Then, upgrade from Drupal 9 to 10. You should also check the Drupal 10.0.0 release notes.
