Preaching to the choir, I’m sure, but:

Equity doesn’t mean giving up your piece of pie so someone else can take it.

It means saying “hey, there’s pie over here, want some?”

My current favorite style of social media post is boomers doing Gen Z slang. (Or is it Gen Alpha? I’m lowkey mid, no cap)

And that’s only actually a fraction of the massive amount of documents that haven’t been released (but have been ordered to).

10. Days.

2026 is starting off great, y’all.

The US then threatened another sovereign nation governed by a NATO ally.
Then a few days later, ICE shot a white woman in her car on her way home from dropping her son off at school.
Meanwhile, gigabytes of data implicating the POTUS in a massive child sex trafficking operation have been released..

I know we all know, but I had to actually articulate this to myself last night…
We’re 10 days into 2026.
Already, the POTUS has declared his New Year Resolution was “world peace” and almost immediately bombed Venezuela, kidnapping the President and his wife.

I sat down with @thewebprincess.bsky.social to talk cultural algorithms, implicit bias, WP Includes, and why our communities thrive when we stop guarding our corner of the pie.
Dee Teal on cultural algorithms, belonging and bias
A common theme in this podcast is the way that open source brings people together and it’s those communities that become far more powerful than the software that we initially got into. In this episode, I sit down with my friend Dee Teal, a Melbourne-based project manager, delivery leader and long time WordPress community member […]

Just when you think Trump can’t sink any lower… Rob Reiner and his talented wife Michele were friends of ours. We collaborated on projects. Brad and I are devastated. We are in shock and grief. Sure, Rob opposed Trump, but this is so beyond the pale.

For the past 7 months, I've been running @communitycode.dev, a podcast that gives me an excuse to talk to cool people about what inspires them. It's been a great run & I'm looking at doing it all over again in 2026.

Join me and be a guest on the show!

Mike Demo on Open Source, Community and Vegan Food
If you’ve been to more than one WordCamp, odds are you’ve seen Mike Demo. He’s a Partnerships Lead at Hosting.com and a familiar face in the open-source world—someone who thrives on connecting people, projects, and ideas. Demo describes himself as a “lead handshaker,” a title that pretty much says it all: his work is about […]

Psh I used emdashes before AI made them cool. I am also annoyed that they flag as AI writing.

…but now in newsletters by people I trust. And obviously elsewhere. I have read many articles about lawyers getting chastised because their paralegals used AI and it hallucinated sources and cases to cite.

The writing style is very distinct, does everyone else recognize it when they see it?

Does anyone else notice how more and more content is written by AI? Maybe I’m not one to talk—I use AI to help write episode summaries and blog posts for @communitycode.dev, but increasingly I am rewriting or editing more. But the cadence of AI writing is everywhere now; in social media sure…

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

Since my Wapuu post (and the one that prompted it), I have felt weirdly even more defensive of Wapuu, more than other parts of WordPress. I feel like Wapuu is something we got unambiguously right.
