So glad to hear that! I’m nervous for my 1mo but we’re not planning to go anywhere, I’m on maternity leave so not exposed at work, and in the meantime we’ll just have to rely on maternal/breastmilk antibodies for at least some protection 😬

FYI child > 1 yo can get second dose of MMR earlier than 4yo (my 2 yo has hers already). I’ve also counseled multiple friends/pts to get their kids vaccinated ASAP especially if traveling or other exposure risk (sadly cases seem to be increasing daily)

Since you’re in a place w limited sunlight, consider a sun lamp or something like an Aerogarden - my problem became basil taking over the tank and choking out all the other herbs 😅

Get rid of insurance processes eg prior auth

Being able to triage pts and schedule appropriate time eg 15-20 min for established pt physical is fine, but need to double that for anyone who needs interpreters, “newborns” who are really complex NICU discharge cases, recent immigrants, etc

💯 agree as a pediatrician and mom (second baby is 2 weeks old). First kid I worked until C/S 39 weeks, went back at 14 weeks (saved 2 weeks FMLA for later in the year) but used up all my PTO. Hubby gets 6 weeks fully paid to use in the first year which is considered pretty good 😬

Sorry to hear this - best peds cancer center on west coast is CHLA. I did residency there but don’t know who’s seeing sarcoma pts specifically. UCSF or Stanford would be closer to start. Ping @shematologist.medsky.social for potential contacts

We live within walking distance of Vons and get multiple ads in mail, which I don’t mind since 2yo had fun learning food vocabulary from the pictures then gleefully tearing up the thin paper 🤪

I’m already dreading next fall/winter if there’s limited/no access to vaccines, especially flu/COVID! We’ve had 3 peds flu deaths in SD county reported (47 nationwide as of last week) 😢
