This is disappointing but not unexpected. Post 24 adult education is continually sidelined.
Adult learning deserves better: a Pre-24 not Post-16 Education White Paper.

In a 38,910 word document, adults are mentioned just 0.13%.

Maybe British universities should be treated like failing rail franchises, getting gradually nationalised as they go bust one by one, then run cooperatively, democratically, comprehensively, strategically and collectively for the public good.
NEW on Wonkhe: Higher education reform is here – along with a comprehensive strategy for post-16 education and skills. Debbie McVitty and David Kernohan work through the details of the government's agenda for HE buff.ly/D73ayy4

This shop frontage in Belmont, near Harrow needs a local listing. It's a precious example of 1930s style.

Simon Gunn, Erika Hanna and Krista Cowman spoke about their contributions to this book at #UHG2025 a few weeks ago. Very excited to see this out soon 👇
"Our purpose in The Modern British City is not merely to describe urban change but to explain why British cities, in all their extraordinary multifariousness, look and feel the way they do today"

Really excited for this expansive new book coming out in November www.lundhumphries.com/blogs/featur...

I’m hearing one academic department has over-recruited 500 students. Double the planned number and not enough staff to teach them. Whilst another department has recruited 2 students even after clearing. Who is going to sort out the shitshow that is UK HE?
It was a great conference. A big thank you to all the organisers. chairs and, of course, the speakers!

I was an external examiner for York's Centre for Lifelong Learning. It has done some really fantastic courses. So sorry to see that it is closing.
We are very sad to hear of the closure of another Centre for Lifelong Learning. The University of York will close its Centre, which has been in existence for 40 years, at the end of July.

I love the fact the Vaughan Exhibition Visitors Discovery Circle means I get to see things I generally never would. And it's really interesting to hear other's views on what we have seen.
