I hereby declare war on premature Christmassing.

Any shop caught doing this before 1st December must be shut down and turned into affordable housing.

Choose sanity. Vote Binface.

Thanks to @ukhsa.bsky.social we can monitor impact of RSV (the virus which causes bronchiolitis)

We started vaccinating pregnant mothers last year but didn't see much of an impact.

Let's hope with⬆️immunisation rates things are different this year...

People on the side of The People always ended up disappointed, in any case. They found that The People tended not to be grateful or appreciative or forward-thinking or obedient. The People tended to be small-minded and conservative and not very clever and were even distrustful of cleverness. And so the children of the revolution were faced with the age-old problem: it wasn’t that you had the wrong kind of government, which was obvious, but that you had the wrong kind of people.

My wife in hospital: “the tea is awful, I have to put sugar in it to make it bearable.” - Drinks 3+ cups a day.

My wife on returning home: “Real tea is amazing!” - forgets to drink the tea and finds a full cold mug 2 hours later.

Did you ever use the Eldar Online/ 40K Online forums?

I used to organise tournaments through that forum and even wrote some fiction for GW during one of the summer campaigns. I can’t imagine that happening now.

I learnt so much, but wasn’t brave enough to stick it in a CV.

I’ve thought about this a lot recently.

I met some amazing friends through Twitter, and built bits of my career that would never have happened without it.

I sometimes feel guilty that I’m not available online in the same ways that others were when I needed them.

I actually feel sorry for the generation that missed out out on the pre-enshittification era of making connections online

There's a cohort who got to make IRL friends for life on forums/messaging boards/twitter with people they'd never cross paths with otherwise. That door feels all but closed now

There is an institutional culture in many parts of the NHS of focussing wholly on money, and just not doing credible patient impact assessments when considering any cuts to service.

Or worse, having them done and treating it as unimportant for many reasons nothing to do with patient health.

🚨 Exclusive: New leaked document proves @NHSEngland was warned a decade ago about failures in child hearing test centres across England.
Hundreds of children have been harmed, some left with lifelong problems:

NHS ignored warnings on children’s hearing tests for a decade
Health bosses in England knew about testing failures in 2014. Hundreds of babies with severe hearing problems were left without help, leading to delayed development

I’d quite like to know how you prevent the inevitable burnout regardless of what any of us did before, but surely if all you know is medicine and you have no formative life experience, that just makes it quicker.

It’s good to have some non-medic friends.

October is #BreastCancer awareness month.

Our family is two months into our breast cancer journey.

I’m incredibly grateful to my wife for checking regularly & spotting when something wasn’t right.

The NHS is amazing & is here for all of us. Check yourself & get checked if it doesn’t feel right.

Thanks Shai.

Hugely grateful to this place, and also to knowing how to navigate the system.

I called the “cause for concern” (Martha’s Rule) number, as a relative today.

I’m incredibly impressed by the response.

It is wonderful to see a new system work so well, and as a relative it’s a huge relief to have an accessible system when you have concerns.

My wife is currently admitted to the hospital I work in.

I’m sat next to her in a bay while she tries to sleep.

I have so many thoughts about the things you hear through these curtains.

People are fascinating.

I have thoughts.

1: Age is just a number and I’ve met some teenagers with far more emotional maturity than some senior consultants.

2: WHY?! Let kids be kids, just because you can go to uni at 13, why would you?! Live a little first my hormone addled friend.
