I largely assembled a kind of period outfit for Jollywood this year. The only problem was that my new (somewhat holiday colored) fedora arrived and is a bit large! So I have to try to get a replacement before next week or used hat liner to get it to fit (it came from California so not impossible)

Today's random World Book entry of the day: a short blurb on the satyr.
Shortest article I've had to read in a while. A quick little primer on a satyr, with background on which Gods they followed and the behavior. I also learned the Roman name for satyr is "faun", which does make some sense.

I hope to visit this summer is some of the areas of the Rockies. Large mountains have fascinated me, and this entry is a good primer to this large mountain range. I expected more geology though in the entry.

I have been to Turkey, but not to Istanbul, and I've always wanted to go. I was disappointed in the size of this article given the rich history of the city. I would imagine there is more under the Byzantine Empire.

I know who Haydn is and some of his works, but didn't know a ton about him, like that he was a close friend of Mozart. He also met a young Beethoven and had him as a pupil. The music world was very connected then apparently.

It's been a while, will be catching up with World Book fun.
I picked up a book in New England on a whim from the Olmsted NHS and ended up being a great decision. I don't know if I would have known of this book otherwise, but fits well in my vintage England section of my library.

My Colonel Sunchbench outfit will return for an event this week. I have a better beard for ME but still not a good match. Partly because I don't want to spend extreme amounts to get it right, partly because I haven't found an exact solution. I am quite happy with the uniform and accessories tho.

It's been a while. To catch up, I found a most unusual book at the bookmine. It dates from 1897 and there's not a ton of information to search on it. It seems to be combination learning/adventure about areas of the world with a Professor and three sons travelling. Amazing woodcut pictures in it.

Side note, this was not my random entry of the day, but one of the reasons I enjoy the World Book Encyclopedia. I stumbled across this artist via the one picture they had for him. I'm not sure I have ever heard of him but this entry and picture started about an hour long deep dive into his works.
