One of the benefits of reading a lot of history is that you realize how many people who were ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN they were doing a lot of good were, in fact, doing a lot of harm.

Certainty is a hell of a drug. Certainty combined with fame/power is especially dangerous.

In 1995, I was directly involved in getting US aid for demining Laos. For that aid to be dropped is shameful. The US put those explosives in the ground when we weren't at war with Laos, and we owe them the cleanup. thediplomat.com/2025/03/in-l...
In Laos, USAID Freeze Hampers Vital Bomb Removal Efforts
With its sweeping aid cuts, the Trump administration has effectively ended U.S. efforts to address a deadly legacy of the Vietnam War.

This is data from the war that Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and their fellow radical Kremlinists inside the MAGA movement claim the Russians are winning handily—_so_ handily that they cannot identify even a _single concession_ the Kremlin should be required to make to end this war.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Meet project "Good Old USA" the now unsealed DoJ file on the Russian influence in the US to sway opinion on the war in Ukraine.

Something Trump has bought into hook-line and sinker.

It was held under seal, because we got the literal playbook revealing their methods

In December Tesla stock was just under $480. Right now it is $296. That's high for a company with 47,000 cars sitting unsold and a CEO focusing on destroying the brand.
