A decades worth of disruption is on the way which will exasperate the ongoing congestion issues. The passenger cap removal won’t help either

This is what happens when you continuously delay vital public transport projects

Dublin city facing decade of disruption from construction of big – and long-awaited – transport projects
Work on two bus corridors – Liffey Valley to the city centre, and Ballymun and Finglas to the city centre – is due to kick off this year. And that’s just the start.

Yesterday we spoke to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport & we highlighted the various failings of this Government on road safety

The ongoing failure of Vision Zero

The Systemic failure of the RSA

And the impact of Default 30kph U-Turn

We’ve been campaigning for more secure bike storage in Dublin and the suburbs for years, so it’s great to finally see a trial

First ones will be on Capel St. & Grafton St. and will be ready for secure bike parking in the Spring

If they’re talking about illegal eScooters & Bikes, there are laws that simply need to be enforced

If they’re talking about requiring helmets & hi-vis jackets for bikes & legal eScooters…. It will be vehemently opposed by us, campaigners & bike share companies

Nobody expects transport infrastructure to happen overnight but they do expect it to happen.

People want to use public transport, they want to see the delivery of infrastructure and of quality service. Stagnating projects and empty promises are not good enough.

Every now and again this gets recommended by an elected official, it’s obviously quite silly when you dig into it

Private motorists don’t need more space when traffic is light, & when there is congestion buses need the priority
Dublin’s deputy lord mayor says bus lanes not needed at weekends as he doesn’t see congestion but claims bus lanes add to weekend traffic
Dublin City’s deputy lord mayor has said that the operating hours of 24/7 bus lanes should be reduced because they are not needed on weekends, as he doesn’t see congestion then, but in …

While Government have been celebrating the €360m annual active travel budget and the opening of an office… the reality for Dubliners is 3/4 Councils have had their budgets cut

And that doesn’t account for inflation

Only the Ministers area of Fingal has had an increase 🤔

It seems Deputy Cahill didn’t learn his lesson about the consequences of his recklessly dangerous driving in the 90’s

We expect a comment by @fiannafailparty.bsky.social or @darraghobrientd.bsky.social about their colleagues continuing poor decision making

Deputy Michael Cahill’s excuse for driving 190km/ph…

He was late to a function he had organised

We wonder if he’d accept that excuse if someone appeared at the Justice Committee with it

2 year ban isn’t enough for that type of reckless disregard for public safety

“Entitled” is the right word… but we’d use it differently to describe the Judge

The real nightmare would be the traffic if the tens of thousands of cyclists in Dublin every day all decided tomorrow to hop in the car

Even we’re now starting to lose track of the amount of rollbacks of basic road safety commitments from this Government

No safe road speeds
No restructuring of the RSA
No automatic camera enforcement

Oh and we’ve just had the worst year for road deaths in a decade

Annnddd… there it is

TII will be buying the 12 properties in Dartmouth Square

The homes sell anywhere from €1.35 - €2+ million without the incentive of a JR

In the end it was about money… nobody was surprised

MetroLink Judicial review has been withdrawn

While this is welcome news… The Dartmouth 19 have almost certainly been successful in whatever their demand was

Dublin is now the 11th most congested city in the world & 3rd in Europe

Governments answer:

End 2:1 spending ratio to roads
Delay public transport projects
Seemingly cancel parts of the Rail Review
Cancel RSA repurposing so it’s actually effective

“Farcical” is the only word that can be used for this Government’s decision to rollback the “binding” decision to disband the RSA

Maximum pressure needs to be placed on them to deliver safe roads in the midst of rising road deaths
