I have a very bad feeling about this...
Speaking as a reader, there absolutely is, but I can understand the wondering. All together now, "Don't give up, you still have us..."
Ach well I just heard a lovely friend here died in a car accident last week and now I'm going to go for a walk, because.
I'm kind of surprised I've not seen anything from the Democrats about it, but then again maybe it's one of those things best ignored rather than made a deal of.
About halfway through The Book of Dust, Volume Three: The Rose Field by Philip Pullman, and it has, gratifyingly, gone in all kinds of unexpected directions. Griffins?? Or indeed gryphons. Epic storytelling from a master.

What book(s) are you reading this week?

In case you haven't seen this, @georgetakei.bsky.social, you really should - maybe they snuck this in while everyone was talking about the ballroom??

It’s not wokeness, it’s efficiency. If you have a product you want to sell to lots of different types of people, you include as many of those people in your advertising as you can so they all feel represented. And also actors are expensive so you employ as few of them as you can. Simples.

Spotted in the wild yesterday. And when I say in the wild I mean outside the King Arthur in Glastonbury.

The health insurance is fortunately not yet an issue here. Rent is getting pretty silly though, from what I hear, similar to what you quoted. I'm very lucky to have got out of that particular shark pool - thanks Dad.
I am fortunate in having a relatively low rent - paid by benefits, but there is a max to what they'll pay depending on average local rents. I don't think it would be possible to run a car on such an income, I agree - but this is the kind of income that anyone on benefits in the UK is living on.
