Last night's craft night turned into a conversation about Star Trek and, among other things, our share love of the way 24 episode seasons allowed for all the character development and big swings.

I love my library for many reasons but today I love it because they purchased all of @kehealey.bsky.social 's Olympus Inc books from my collections request. I loved them all but the Trojan Woman arc was my favorite. And like I was a queer kid in the 90s and I will absolutely be pandered to

Grad school really broke my relationship with reading and it's just been in the last couple years that I've started to rebuild it, largely by deciding to only read things that I find fun. This book entirely fits the bill and I tore through it in two days. www.kickstarter.com/projects/kar...

I co-ran a warming kit assembly and donation drive for our local shelter today and was so heartened by the way our community showed up. We had more donations than we had room in boxes to sort them into, including an absolutely stunning array of hand knit items from my local yarn shop folks.

I don't think it's cowardice. I think that they are OK with what the GOP is doing. The sooner folks reconcile with this, the better.

An explanation is needed here.
I know quite a few comrades on the ACA exchange. I used to be on the exchange for years. A doubling or tripling of premium costs will be a death sentence for people who NEED HEALTH INSURANCE to survive. PERIOD.

We've heard Democrats say as much for WEEKS. So what the hell??????

This is the second year I've done thrifted toys instead of candy at Halloween. It's so fun to hear the kids running down the sidewalk yelling, they have dinosaurs here! (Nothing that makes noise because I'm not a monster).

What Altman et al don't get in this weird ongoing fetishisation of PhDs is that ppl who complete them do so bc they are curious, persistent, can see & interpret patterns, can deal with uncertainty, & are often (most importantly!) v v lucky, not bc they are 'smart' or get AI to do their homework
Is it really good at self-recrimination, imposter syndrome, and procrastination? Can it talk coherently about Deleuze and Guattari but not back a trailer? Does it get asked if it's a real doctor? If not it's not at PhD level.
