I'm at 6/10 Oscar best picture nominations watched and so far this year does not seem particularly strong. Some enjoyable movies in there but only a few I've seen that seem best picture worthy. I should be at 8/10 later in the week. Hopefully The Secret Agent lives up to the hype

Oh the movie wasn’t horror. The horror was watching the dude in front of me with his feet out the whole time

I got a good amount BF/Cyber Monday emails but got way more for Giving Tuesday. I'm typically good at unsubscribing but it feels really bad when so many of the arts, charities, non-profits, etc. of Seattle (and elsewhere) are struggling. I donate where I can but can't as much as previous years 🥲

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

Saw Jaws at the local indie theater which usually has pretty good crowds but the wine mom in front of me kept whispering to her friends & got louder every refill so that killed the vibe a bit. Guess it’s still better than someone pulling out their phone

Watching 28 Years Later at home and it’s really pushing my sound system into bothering the neighbors territory. Incredible sound design. Far better than movies that weren’t filmed on iPhones!

Just a reminder that generative AI is theft of labor and intellectual property, uses vast amounts of energy/ water, provides at best mediocre results (if not outright lies or misinformation), actually affects your ability to think over time (mind duh), and is in general a really fucking bad idea.

Was Tony Gilroy really the first movie guy who was given a 10-hour tv show and instead of going "I don't know how to make tv episodes so Imma make a 10-hour movie and not think at all about why 10-hour movies aren't a thing," and instead went "10 hours is about 4 movies, I'll just make 4 movies"?
