While the media is scrambling to try and understand who killed Charlie Kirk this video goes over all the evidence behind the ideology of the shooter and explains the necessity for legacy media to learn more about internet culture before blaming trans people

The city has gotten back to me!

They confirm the city clerk (and chief electoral officer for this byelection) gave incorrect information to councillors multiple times about staffing for this byelection.

It is only a 62% reduction in staff compared to the 2017 byelection.

Not 80%.

As you were!
jmcelroy.bsky.social
A further, and somewhat odd update for folks:

- The city emailed me, claiming it is *only* a 62% reduction in staff, and asked where I got my info from

- I told them I got it from the city clerk when she briefed city council, where she said it two times

So we'll see what they say

I've cracked the code of why byelection lineups are so long in Vancouver today.

It's not just a turnout question.

Compared to the 2017 byelection, the city decreased the number of election workers by EIGHTY PERCENT.

From 1,250 in 2017 to 250 this time around.

This was a staff recommendation.

The only good thing of the understaffed and under equipped voting stations today was talking #vanpoli w @ayan604.bsky.social in the long lineup at Hastings CC. We shouldn’t have to meet this way! My daughter is convinced this is voter suppression for her #EastVan demographic. #vanpoli

Of the 4 successful community amenity proposals selected (from 35 competing NGO proposals) none were in Woodwards a year after opening. Meanwhile SFU recd $50M BC + $10M Goldcorp gifts. Wealthy HYLouie & Jim Pattison recd 10 years tax free rent. Social mix doesn’t have to be gentrifying social wash

The issue I take with Meggs comment that we can’t “solve fundamental social problems with a bldg … no matter how well executed” is this wasn’t well executed. The City shut down W community advisory ctte 2yrs prior to completion, Gillespie sabotaged, and Green & PHS colluded against non-PHS interests
