Virtually every Republican member of Congress is just fine with how ICE conducts themselves in American cities.

Peachy keen.

WHO VOTES FOR THESE GUYS?!?

I start my day with @hcrichardson.bsky.social and then turn to my feed here on Bluesky.

She does a wonderful job of putting today's events in context, but I'm always saddened at how much more this administration is doing that she could have included.

Republicans need to stop this.

If this is who we are now, and, let's face it, this IS who we are now, then a new sphere of consumer information would be helpful.

Such as Sarah Jeong's advice on the BEST GAS MASKS FOR THOSE THINKING ABOUT PROTESTING under today's government oppression.

Best gas masks
“How did these people go out and get gas masks?” AG Bondi asked.

An assailant approached Ilhan Omar and sprayed her with an unknown substance. We know he did this because it's on video. The man was tackled and arrested. Ostensibly, they have the syringe he used, as well.

Thank god the FBI is investigating.

Donald John Trump, rapist, fraud, and traitor, is STILL looking for 11,780 votes.
January 28, 2026 at 7:42 PM
Hey, Donny, Steve, and especially Mar a Lago Kristi - do you really need to know that I vote straight Democratic ticket every time?

Well, there you go. Now you don't have to "surge" ICE into my neighborhood.
January 28, 2026 at 7:40 PM
We blow up small boats off the coast of Venezuela. Then we commandeer oil tankers leaving Venezuela. Then we drop bombs on Caracas and nearby military installations while kidnapping their president and his wife.

The "Honorable" Marco Rubio says we're not a war with Venezuela.

SOUNDS like war...

1,000,000 Americans died. The number itself is so staggering that we cannot begin to comprehend. We all saw photos of refrigerated trailers serving as morgues, but it didn't sink in. Over 90% of those 1,000,000 Americans were UNVACCINATED and died needlessly.

That was COVID. Now do measles.
January 28, 2026 at 2:19 PM
Eight Democrats (with nothing to lose) voted to re-open the federal government last time, gaining nothing.

Seven Democrats crossed the line this time, too.

I don't buy that it's always JUST ENOUGH Democratic votes to guarantee passage. Why were these seven "allowed" to vote with Republicans?

I just became a Seahawks fan.

Damned if I want to see the Evil Empire winning Super Bowls again.
January 26, 2026 at 2:54 AM
The last movie about a prostitute that I saw was "Pretty Woman." But I didn't go to the theater to see that one and I sure as hell am not paying to see a movie about another one today.
January 26, 2026 at 2:20 AM
I guess it can rightly be said that every elected Republican either supports what these ICE agents are doing or sits silently, hoping to avoid blame.

As for the 7 Democrats who voted to continue this assault on America, primary them all.

[SE PA] I get that we have to make up for the recent mild winters we've had, but all at once?

Went out this morning for gas for the snowblower. Not going anywhere near a grocery store. Panic buying for what will be probably two days stuck at home. At most.
January 24, 2026 at 4:05 PM
Okay, it's been a year now.

Can someone PLEASE take away Trump's tariff pen and explain to him why this is not among a president's powers?

Please?
January 24, 2026 at 2:43 PM
Yet another thing the next president has to do on Day One:

Rejoin WHO.
January 23, 2026 at 4:39 PM
Van Drew used his time to expose himself as a clown.

He (who ran and was elected as a Democrat and immediately declared he was actually a Republican) called Jack Smith a hypocrite. Why? Because the investigation centered only on Republicans.

NOT A SINGLE DEMOCRAT PARTICIPATED IN JANUARY 6th.
January 22, 2026 at 7:39 PM
The "internal memo" that suggests that ICE can just knock down your door and invade your home on the basis of a DHS official's signature has about the same legal standing as the "internal memo" in the Department of Justice that suggests that a sitting president cannot be indicted.

I always thought that a hearing should have more listening and less speechifying.
January 22, 2026 at 4:13 PM
This is where we are. "Gym" Jordan gets to open the hearing with a string of lies and distortions, even as he was part of the conspiracy around January 6th to deny Joe Biden's election.

Instead of rotting in prison, he's the committee chairman.
January 22, 2026 at 3:07 PM
YET ANOTHER WAPO WRITER tries and fails to define "Trumpism."

This is a word thrown around in opinion pages, but nobody can say what it is. In fact, the idea that Donald John Trump has a definable and consistent policy is ridiculous.

Unless "Trumpism" is "what's in it for me?"
January 21, 2026 at 3:47 PM
25th amendment now!

The only upside to a J.D. Vance presidency is that idea that Republicans in Congress won't collectively kneel before him as they did with Donald Trump.

We might actually see Congress do stuff, y'know, like legislating.
January 21, 2026 at 3:44 PM
Every Republican in every level of government who acquiesced, who stayed silent, who participated in this assault on America has the Trump Taint©.

And the Trump Taint© doesn't wash off, no matter how much we scrub, Marjorie Taylor ex-Greene, Bill Barr, Lindsey Graham, etc.
January 21, 2026 at 3:38 PM
We're going to deja vu the federal budget again. A couple of months ago we went through the longest shutdown in history, until 8 Democrats CAVED. They voted to reopen the government and got nothing in exchange.

Will Bunch does not fill me with confidence today.

I kept thinking that Trump somehow took over the Republican Party. But that's not right...

It's more that he gave them permission to be their true selves. And we're seeing the results.

Reading Heather Cox Richardson's latest on whether we have no heroes left and wondering if Renee Good, in hindsight, will be the hero who led us to end and abolish ICE.

We seem to only recognize our heroes in history, not in the moment.

You hear sometimes, now that we know the sordid details of the lives of some of our leading figures, that America has no heroes left.
