When I was chasing the storm cloud photos in my previous post, I also found this seriously scruffy kookaburra, sitting on the fence of one of the lookouts. I suspect it was a very young fledgling only just out of the nest, because it sat examining every car that drove past. #photography #nativebird

The predicted showers for today were a bit late showing up. This view is from Mt.Archer to the south-east, Mt. Sleipner and the Broadmount Range under a cloud. #photography

A while back I went to a downstream part of the Fitzroy River, looking for bird photo opportunities. There were none to be had on the river, but this cattle egret in a paddock seemed to be startled by the beast it was standing behind. Perhaps it's thinking "Did you just fart?" #photography #bird

A storm blew through west of Rockhampton a couple of days ago, under a cap of cirrus clouds. #BlueSkyArtShow #clouds #photography

The kangaroo was not the only thing I photographed at Yeppen Lagoon, this duck was obviously on a mission: #photography #nativebird

I went to Yeppen Lagoon (in south Rockhampton) the other day to see what birds I might capture ... this fella was a bit upset that I disturbed his nap. #photography #wildlife

Truth hurts when you're trying to stifle dissent. I stand with Cathy Wilcox and all political cartoonists.

With all the weather extremes being experienced all over Australia, Rockhampton didn’t want to miss out. This photo is of the city from Mt. Archer this evening. #photography

The baby masked lapwings are growing fast, but they're still fuzzy although starting to take on adult colours. @yllekaj.bsky.social & @sandyhorne.bsky.social

Once again: "politicus interruptus". A heron poised to strike in the rising tide at the south end of Lammermoor Beach, near Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia. #photography

A little more "politics interruptus", a photo of a heron inspecting the waters of the Fitzroy River for a snack, under the shadow of the "old bridge". #photography

The local masked lapwings have successfully raised another pair of babies. These would have to be the youngest and fluffiest I've ever seen. #photography #nativebird

"An outage in Queensland has resulted in many Optus customers being unable to use their NBN connection." Do tell! What a surprise! Typing on my phone is such fun, especially since last nights update has stuffed the keyboard.

A photo of a small pale green moth on one of my t-shirts hanging on the line to dry. Taken with my phone. #photography

More "politicus interruptus": Two turtles on a log in Yeppen Lagoon, Rockhampton, Australia. I'm not sure if it was a standoff or if they were just saying Hi. #photography

Another photo from Yeppen Lagoon, Rockhampton, Australia. A pelican preening on a log, watched by a cormorant

I drove up Mt. Archer, with a polarising filter attached to the camera lens, thinking it could cut through the haze. Silly me! The smoke/haze I usually complain about has gone through the roof, the filter failed utterly. #photography #failedphotography

We've got bushfire burnoff in the Berserker Ranges. This is a phone photo from the north end of Kemp Beach near Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia, showing the smoke rising until flattened by the westerly wind. The plume extends beyond the Keppel Islands. ##photography

In my continuing series of experiments with wide-angle photography: A water runnel in sand, plus rocks, shadowed by late afternoon sun. Let's play "spot the bare foot print"! #photography

My fun day at the beach included some more experiments with the ultra-wide angle lens. This is a view of the harbour side cliff face showing the basalt columns of Double Head at Rosslyn Bay near Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia. #photography

I've been experimenting with an ultra-wide lens for an older camera that I bought some time ago. I'm trying to work out how to best make use of it. Let me know what you think of my "signs of civilization". #photography

Another photo of a cormorant or darter, taken at Woolwash Lagoon, Rockhampton. It was on the near shore of the lagoon so I didn't even need my long lens! The sunshine is showing clearly the striped feathers near the base of it's wings. #photography #nativebird

Not a bird! I went hunting fog photos early, and got this shot of the Moon surrounded, not by a halo, but fuzzy with fog. #photography
