There is a product called RatSak Naturals that is not poison, but a combination of cornmeal and salt, that does not cause secondary deaths. The rats & mice love it, (mostly for the salt, I think) it kills by setting like concrete in their intestines ... won't hurt anything else.

All of the macropod (kangaroo etc.) mums will do that as a panic response. Lightens mum's load, to escape faster, baby joeys are normally hidden by long grass/bush. Mum would circle back later to find the joey. Remember, mum could already be carrying another much smaller joey, so she's saving two.

Well, it might not be much consolation, but a few days ago I went looking at a spot that often has birds and saw none. As I reversed out of that spot I looked around and saw 4 in the long grass beside my car! Immediate stop, grab the camera: #photography #nativebird

For a while I was a "distro hopper": Mint is based on Ubuntu, supposedly to make it more "user friendly". I've used Xubuntu since the days of "improvement" of Gnome gave us v. 3.0. 🫣

On a similar note, I went to the coast for Xmas eve, and got this photo near Rosslyn Bay Harbour just south of Yeppoon. I think they're Oyster Catchers ... but I'm happy to accept your superior knowledge! #photography #seabird

From context, I'd guess that's "... lose any in the one over remaining ...". I'm always surprised when people on social media can't interpret "typo", but I guess I got lots of practice in the early days of IRC.
