Do you have knowledge or expertise in taxonomic groups found in the UK’s uplands? I’m looking for naturalists to contribute to autecological analysis as part of a #biodiversity audit assessing impacts of land-use change across eight of northern England’s protected landscapes 1/4
A photograph of an upland landscape in northern England with text over it. Title reads: “Expert input needed for multi-taxa biodiversity research project across northern England’s uplands”. Subtitle reads: “Species, habitat or regional specialists please contact franky.rogers@uea.ac.uk”. Logos for the University of East Anglia, RSPB and ARIES DTP in the top right corner.

Hi Darren, thanks for this - hoverfly knowledge would be very useful! Could you DM me the best email to get hold of you in the near future? Thanks!

Presumably the same account that’s changed usernames but if not, there’s another to report and block. Very strange!

A bit daunting when I realised quite how many people were in the audience, especially as I was talking about career plans changing due to chronic illness. I wrote it with my past-self in mind, so hopefully it will help some students in a similar position.

Had a great time at a 6th form STEM conference last week talking to students from Folkestone and Dover grammar schools about my career path from A-Level to now!
Photo showing a protected presentation featuring various photographs (graduation, wildlife and fieldwork photos) behind someone (me!) stood at a lectern.

To understand potential winners and losers of land management options, multi-taxa analysis is being conducted using biological records from the protected landscapes highlighted on the map. If you have data in these areas, please contact [email protected] 3/4

Body text: “Seeking invertebrate and plant biological records not held by NBN or Local Environmental Record Centres in the following protected landscapes:
- Forest of Bowland National Landscape,
- Lake District National Park,
- Nidderdale National Landscape,
- Northumberland National Park,
- North Pennines National Landscape,

This #BiodiversityAudit will collate management requirements for invertebrates and plants found in the landscape. For this, validation and autecological input is needed to capture the knowledge not found in literature. Willing to contribute? DM or ✉️ [email protected] 2/4

Title: “Ecological expertise?”
Body text: “If you could help to validate species lists for a taxonomic group, or provide comment on autecological interpretations of species recorded across uplands in northern England’s protected areas, please contact: franky.rogers@uea.ac.uk
This is a non-profit study, designed to provide conservation guidance for landscape and site managers to support large numbers of priority species cutting across multiple taxa.
Please circulate these posts and spread the word with anyone you think might be able to contribute.”
