Ch Exec City of Edinburgh Council.
Pat Murphy. A radio legend. His voice will be much missed.

Didn’t realise we’d lost both Yvonne Brewster and Nabil Shaban. Talawa and Graeae both hugely influential. Sad losses to British theatre

Would be staggered if MOTD viewing numbers don’t collapse. Nothing to do with the new presenters (who are excellent). All the matches are on the i player by mid Saturday eve..

Never seen more walk outs in a theatre than at Cliff Cardinal’s ‘As You Like It’ for EIF last night. A fascinating and enlightening night.

Live Aid. 40 years ago. I was living & working in N London, didn’t think much about it as ‘do they know it’s Christmas’ wasn’t exactly my thing. We were in a pub. Quo started with Rockin’ all over the World and the whole place joined in. Was a surprisingly amazing day

A tough old week cheered by a superb Hull City away win last night, calmer weather this morning, and the Dylan film to come tomorrow.

I am very sad to say, David Lodge died on January 1st.
He was a wonderful man and hugely influential writer.
I was lucky to be his agent and he taught me so much.
His campus novels will be read for years to come.
A great loss.

Gardener's Cottage and Lookout restaurants now permanently closed. Website thanks patrons for 'all your support over the years'. Tough times: customers with less disposable income; increased ingredient prices; fuel-intensive kitchens with increased energy costs. Next?

The difference between Johnnie Walker and Bob Harris is that Johnnie made 70s music feel like the soundtrack to your youth, whereas Bob seems to be playing a soundtrack to himself..

The fate of the Assad regime is in the balance tonight
- fighting in Damascus, possible coup attempt
- rebel gains in Aleppo, Hama & many other areas of north
- Bashar al-Assad may remain in Moscow, although there are suggestions a Russian flight brought him back this evening

Thursday night’s treat was @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social Schools Instrumental Service concert at the Usher Hall. Just amazing to see. Last night was Scotland v Finland at Easter Rd. Bit less amazing but great crowds of many young supporters and all to play for in the second leg..
