If there were more masked people at #NYCC I’d actually go again. I miss it a lot. Comics artists cannot afford to get covid. “Fans” coming unmasked endangers talent

“So many people, so many germs! I have chronic illness. I don’t want to get COVlD again and make my life harder. Even if there wasn’t COVID, the mask prevents con crud!” Karen Walsh allegrosolutionsllc.com, author, Allegro Solutions’ Founder+CEO 📸 @msjulieslam.bsky.social #NYCC #MaskTogetherAmerica

See, it's *different* when the trans people you're trying to persecute are your own blood relation who you desperately resent, rather than a minority population of blameless strangers who you've never met.

However, we do also known that Groucho Marx is the link between T.S. Eliot and Alice Cooper - despite Eliot's antisemitism, he and Groucho were pen-pals, and in the 70s Groucho told Cooper he was the last hope for Vaudeville.

Thanks to diary entries, we do have proof that Noel Coward saw a live performance by the Beatles! (See also: Craig Brown's "One On One", aka "Hello Goodbye Hello".)

He HATED them.

Fat phobia is prejudice: unethical, not philosophically sound, born of an ugly past that is actually rooted in oppression, and also, it’s just deeply uncool. It’s IN NO WAY an effective weapon against fascism. In fact, it’s got roots in elitist, classist, racist and fascist ideology

#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

www.kickstarter.com/projects/den...
If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

In 2011, my Mac deleted the essay I'd written comparing and contrasting two books I'd never read, nor ever intended to. With hours until deadline, I pulled an all-nighter to rewrite the entire thing from scratch, print it out and hand it in, in-person.

Snagged a cool 78% grade. I didn't need a bot.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

Oh wow, flashbacking to when this was my hyperfixation in 2017. I still feel like drawing some of the posters for these...
"WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE": A grumpy widowed architect (Tom Hanks) is tricked by his toddler son into receiving love-letters from a woman in New York (Meg Ryan), little knowing that she is in fact in a coma and the letters are being sent by her guilt-ridden ex (Sandra Bullock) who knocked her out following their break-up.

Meanwhile, Rosie O'Donnell (Rosie O'Donell) is tormented by a malevolent gnome (Bill Pullman). "DR. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN" - the first James Bond (Sean Connery) is sent into the wilds of West Texas for his first adventure. His mission: to investigate the improbably-named Dr. Anton NoCountryForOldMen (Javier Bardem), a grumbly science ruffian obsessed with destroying the American space launch by use of a gargantuan dairy farm stun gun. Mayhem and lost bikinis ensue.

Meanwhile, Bernard Lee (Bernard Lee) and Woody Harrelson (Woody Harrelson) spend ten consecutive hours constructing a shed in a Norwegian allotment to hide their marijuana operation. “CHILDREN OF MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS” - in a future in which all of Earth’s children have been wiped out by psychic spies, a world-weary Jedi (Ewan McGregor) teams up with a mild-mannered journalist (Julianne Moore) to protect the mother of the first non-psychic child in 20 years (Clare-Hope Ashitey) from an army of identical clone stormtroopers with weird nodding heads (George Clooney).

Meanwhile, Michael Caine (Michael Caine) and Jeff Bridges (Jeff Bridges) get their beards simultaneously caught in the same pasta-making machine during a disastrous field trip. Can they work together despite their differences in time for the regional tagliatelle-tossing championships? Only one person can decide: Amelia Earhart (Pam Ferris). "HOW TO TRAIN YOUR RED DRAGON" - in a world where Vikings are constantly in battle with artistic serial killer reptiles, embittered 13-year-old savant Will 'Hiccup' Graham (Jay Baruchel) must consult prisoner Hannibal 'Blood Sandwich' Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) in training and rehabilitating his first captive - 'The Toothless Fairy' (Ralph Fiennes), a red dragon who just wants a friend, and also to swallow the child of the woman clothed in sun. Hijinks...ensue...?

Meanwhile, Gerard Butler (Gerard Butler) is smeared all over with margarine by a very alert Philip Seymour Hoffman (Philip Seymour Hoffman), for reasons neither of them fully understand.
