Clifton Pits WeBS count late morning and early afternoon. 253 Cormorant is a significant count, 11 Little Egret, 1 Shelduck, 28 GG, 7 LG, T.31, SV 12, TU 55, WN 41, Snipe, Kingfisher, Peregrine and 3 Yellowhammer.
Obliging Wheatear at Clifton Pits this afternoon, also Great Egret, 6 Little Egret and 195 Cormorant.

Long-tailed Duck still on Clifton north pit this morning, also a late Redstart on the west side of main pit. Sadly found the Marsh Harrier dead on Ashmoor Common, a Whinchat there loosely associating with a couple of Stonechat was more positive.

Curlew Sandpiper still present this morning at Ripple Pits, south pit, east shore. Also Ringed Plover through, Green Sandpiper, 2+ Common Sandpiper and Hobby.

Pleased with my 1st Clifton WeBS count this morning. 18 Black Tern’s and a fly through Spotted Redshank were the obvious highlights. Also singles of Pintail, Mandarin, Barnacle Goose & Common Gull and CG354, GJ232, EG37, MA278, GA10, SV20, T.11, TU82, ET2 & CO119.

Good wader passage today at Sker Point & Kenfig NNR. Whimbrel, 3 Golden Plover, 50+ Sanderling, Sker rocks at high tide.Black-tailed Godwit, Little Stint & Wood Sandpiper on the east shore of pool, latter 2 flew north at 1.30. Also 2 Wheatear and 6+ Yellow Wagtail.
Good numbers of Yellow Wagtail on east side of main pit Clifton this morning 30+, gathering of the local population or passage? Also; Ringed Plover, Dunlin, 4 LRP, 3 Common Sand. and 1 each of Great & Little Egret.

Great to see; Barn Owl, probably 2 at Ryall Court Pits 1st thing this morning and a Great Black-backed Gull loafing on the pit. Also 4 Shelduck, 68 Tufted Duck, 5 Pochard and a few Teal & Wigeon.

Corn Bunting and Brambling among the finches and buntings in the set aside immediately south of Main Pit Clifton, made this afternoons visit well worth while despite the mist and cold.
