Just in NIH grants, It looks like beautiful Iowa City, home of the U of Iowa, will lose $71m in funding. That's almost $1k per resident. And that's before all the other cuts to SSA, FDA, etc.

I’m on the fence about this one. If the government did shut down, nobody would be paid and nothing would work. That would have been playing right into Trump’s hands.

He crossed another Constitutional line by failing to produce for sworn testimony the OPM director. What recourse does a judge have if Trump refuses court orders? This is what keeps me up at night. Are there enough people who will refuse to obey his unlawful orders to get us out of this mess?

Midterm elections = only hope. Let MAGA fail for now. Infiltrate and divide them next. If those with deep pockets and influence could focus on messaging infrastructure in the meantime, that would be extremely helpful. Employ a few psychologists and sociologists to judge AI solutions to the problem.
