Nothing against this group or the clip, but I find it really interesting that Americans can’t comprehend fascism in color.

Talked with @brittanywong.bsky.social on the conservative/fascist turn in today’s fashion. Fashion can be a tool of control, but it can also be a form of resistance. Don’t buy into the fascist trends.

“What’s interesting now is that, while during Trump’s first administration we saw more resistance and backlash from the fashion industry, now we see more compliance,” said professor @einavrfox.bsky.social.

116 years ago a bunch of working class women changed the world because they got together and fought for their rights. Their fight is still our fight.

Now that it's official, I'm happy to announce that starting today I am the managing editor at the Cleveland Museum of Art. I didn't choose to leave academia, but I'm very excited to begin this new chapter, in this dream job and keep doing the things I love to do, surrounded by art and beauty.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

To echo this, part of the reason that unions were so powerful in the 1930s is that they understood the power of connecting different people for a common goal. Pins and Needles, the ILGWU musical celebrated just that - diversity - and why it was important not only to labor but to democracy
One problem with Vance's argument is that it was not immigration restriction in 1924 that led to rapid union growth--indeed that coincided with a fiercely anti-union decade of Republican governance--but the New Deal's National Labor Relations Act of 1935.
JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

DHS posted this video two hours after I asked about the viral photos of Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino.

The portion where he does hand signals is from Bovino leaving court in Chicago yesterday.

Yes, there are more important atrocities with this administration than the demolition of the east wing. But fascism thrives on image and aesthetics, and symbols matter. Don’t underestimate the power of visual symbols- they are used to control, but can also be used to resist.

In my research today I learned that in the 1920s and 1930s there were summer camps for adults where one could do theater, dancing, singing and other arts - and I think we should bring back this tradition. Let's institutionalize summer camps for all.
