I really appreciate that @pbsnews.org ended the interview with this graphic.

It captures, in the simplest and starkest terms, the brutal arithmetic driving this country's homelessness catastrophe.

It's unfair to have Sunday evening anxiety on Saturday just because I need to write a PPT tomorrow and yet...

Things to do this weekend besides shopping:

- manage your mind goblins
- nap for 1,000 years
- investigate Pi until you get to the weird stuff
- investigate pie
- read a book out loud in the forest. it may seem like no creatures are listening, but they are, and they appreciate it

This is why you should always post about books you like (or wrote! or published!) on Bluesky. I'd say that a solid half of the books I buy now are based on seeing someone post something here.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

I have accomplished one of my Thanksgiving vacation goals: rescuing MY bed from the basement and attic and getting it back into my bedroom and reassembled.

(There's been a guest bed in my room since September when my parents came to visit. That bed is now in the basement and attic.)

I spent twenty minutes of my Friday comparing Adam Driver to a guy I saw in the Louvre. Aren't vacation days grand?

The Wedding Banquet (1993) might be the first gay movie I ever saw (at college in Michigan in the late 1990s). Two men in love kissing on screen was a revelation.

Favorite movie of the week and one of my favorites this year:
Northern Skies Over Empty Space. 🐂🌵

Since I woke up at 5am on Thanksgiving morning and have had nothing to do today other than whatever I want, I've had a couple of ideas:

🔸️Thanksgiving is an autumn harvest festival
🔸️Chrysanthemums and Korean melons are my first year's harvest in this house
🔸️I have melon jam and fresh flower petals

Cooking one Thanksgiving dish per meal for a four-day weekend might be the way to go or at least I've decided that cooking scalloped potatoes for breakfast at 7am is perfectly acceptable.

Hi brain, I don't need to be awake at 5am on Thanksgiving.

Kicked off Thanksgiving vacation watching some, erm, clearly classic holiday movies with a friend. A great way to start the long weekend!

The neighbor who was hammering at 10pm on a weekend is hammering again at 10pm on a Tuesday. Except maybe it’s chopping? Hard to say.

These federal changes have completely upended groups who work to house the homeless in Louisville and throughout Kentucky, as @byrobertor.lpm.org covered yesterday:
Federal funding shift threatens to increase homelessness in Kentucky
President Donald Trump's administration is capping funding for long-term housing programs, a move that worries homeless service providers.

Morning was the right decision except for the rain and now me wandering around the house looking in cupboards and random places for the bottle of milk I bought that I didn't actually buy.
Should I go brave Thanksgiving-week Kroger at 6pm today or 7am tomorrow?

Tomorrow, right? I feel like early morning is always the answer.
