A drawing of a man with an angry and devious look, as if he's scheming something. He's looking down and to his right with a hand under his chin. It's very rough and more of a sketch/doodle. The original artist apparently based this off of a random bust and stories of the original Caracella, an emperor of Rome, and the drawing itself was a layout for a painting. I waffled on making this more abstract for a bit. It was fun to draw.

“This striking object is a mahi-maratib, or ‘fish and dignitaries,’ a battle standard in the form of a fish. It was produced around 1700 in most likely Golconda, located in the Deccan of central south India. It consists of the front half of monstrous-looking fish; the other half of the body would have been fashioned out of silk cloth, which, when billowing in the wind, would have been both an impressive and intimidating sight on the battlefield.” “A stylized fish-head made of iron, the surface coppered and gilt. The head is formed of two main plates, upper and lower, their seam covered on the outside with a thin band of iron. The upper rear part of the head is composed of two separate plates, riveted together. There are applied bands around the back edge of the head and a smaller one around the mouth. The hollow head is engraved with scales, except for the underside, which is engraved with motifs of lotus flowers that surround the conical pole mount. It also features two recurved and serrated pectoral fins and one recurved and serrated dorsal fin, all applied to the body. The fish’s face is embossed with two large eyes, a nose, and thick eyebrows that are etched with individual hairs. There are also these distinctive curls at the temples, which are silvered. Lining the top of the mouth are engraved, curved whiskers. The fish’s agape mouth reveals at top and bottom large iron fangs individually applied to the mouth, and row of smaller iron teeth applied via a separate iron strip at the front and sides; the teeth retain some of their original silvering. Copper alloy repairs secure the lower rear teeth on both sides. The cheeks are adorned with decorative bossets fitted with rings. The inside of the mouth is lined with red velvet. The body is mounted on a 3-tiered, conical socket that would originally have accommodated the supporting staff. This socket extends into a spear-like staff that pierces the bottom and top of the head, terminating in a conical finial above.”

Duel- from someone who likes the twilight zone, this feels like an entirely too long twilight zone episode with bad pacing. I'm not sure why this is considered a classic? Only the strong- It's nowhere near peak cinema, or even cinema, but it was a very fun movie overall. Marc Dacascos(if his name sounds familiar he's the guy that hosted Iron Chef America and did backflips in the beginning of the show) is extremely athletic and that plus the generally wholesome/corny tone carried this movie. It was nowhere near as racist or demeaning as I thought it would be given the tropes movies with the same plot/concept tend to be. Hellraiser- way more sexually charged than I thought it would be. A lot of this honestly just seems like the directors fetish? It was very visceral and carnal. Parts of it felt like a softcore pxxn from the 80s(or what I imagine they were like, I've never seen one??), parts of this felt like an off kilter romance move, parts of it felt like body horror. I'd go as far as calling this an underrated horror classic. At the same time I think this movie REALLY would have benefitted from more characterization and lore. Moonfall- If you like disaster type movies from the 70s-90s you'll probably like it. I thought it was fun.

I was going to include her forearm gauntlets and hat but the former was honestly too confusing to draw(partly because her official art isn't consistent, the original sprites weren't detailed enough, and the only official reference sheets I could find had her almost naked) and the latter just looked weird from the back angle.

“During these years, Kirchner rented the house "In den Lärchen" in Davos-Frauenkirch in winter and was thus able to experience the seasons and the rhythm of the hard-working farmers' lives, the harsh winters, the hay harvest, the farmers' festivals and also the alpine season in the summer months, when the cows came home to the lush pastures. In the present work, the artist shows the cows peacefully grazing "in autumn". Although the Alpine cattle drives festivities in many Swiss regions are celebrated in September and October, the hard-boiled animals can be kept outside for a large part of the day all year round, even when temperatures drop below freezing. On extended walks in the Davos area, for example on the "Längmatte" and near the "Stafelalp", where the artist used to have a summer home, Kirchner observed the cows at close range and worked up his impressions in photographs, spontaneous drawings and prints, as well as in paintings like the present work….In terms of motifs, the horned animals are of great importance to Kirchner in these years and make for an integral part of his oeuvre from the Davos period.” “In the present painting "Kühe im Herbst", his modern artistic style is evident in a common rural motif. Kirchner portrays the friendly animals in three different views and positions, grazing from the side, with their mouths open and facing the viewer from the front, thus already filling a large part of the image area. He is not interested in depicting the idyllic mountain world of Davos, and instead put focus on a modern invention of form, new pictorial ideas and perspectives and a bold use of color. As can be seen in other works from these years, Kirchner developed a characteristic two-tone color scheme for his motifs. Just as the bodies of the cows are modeled in a strong violet and a deep blue-green, Kirchner uses only clear, strong colors for his depiction of light and shadow…instead of mixing the color in darker and lighter tones.
