A realistic digital painting of Chinese-American actress Joan Chen as Josie from Twin Peaks. Portrait is from the waist up. Josie is seated on a dusty pink velvet sofa. She’s wearing a green, blue, and black oversized sweater and bright red lipstick. Her black hair is short and slicked back in a delicate wave. She’s clutching a red book to her chest. One of her hands is repeated three times, the disembodied extra hands stacked surreally as if in mid-air. The background is a gradient from pale lavender to vivid blue. A realistic digital painting of The Moon. Portrait is from the waist up. The “Moon” is hovering in mid-air, soft white, the disembodied “head” over a pink and orange Cinderella-style gown with billowy sleeves. Purple-tinted human hands are clasped loosely at the front but otherwise no body can be seen. The background is a gradient from soft brown to deep purple. A realistic digital painting of Media from American Gods. Portrait is from the chest up. Media, played by white actor Gillian Anderson, is dressed as Marilyn Monroe from The Seven Year Itch. She’s wearing an ivory satin halter dress with bare shoulders. Her curly hair is platinum blonde. She wears red lipstick and enamel earrings in the shape of an emoji: a yellow smiley face with hearts for eyes. The background is soft orange. A realistic digital painting of Gus from Breaking Bad. Portrait is a closeup bust. Gus is portrayed by Black Italian American actor Giancarlo Esposito. His portrait is all in gray with his face cast deep in shadow. The only color in the portrait is his glasses, which have vivid pink lenses. The background is dark gray.

You know what this reminds me of? When Chief gives the briefing in Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. "Eartha Brute is up to no good again, gumshoes. This time she's pilfered Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright." And Eartha hefts the whole building away on her shoulder.

This is one giant shitpost, and it's amazing.

Welp, here it is: maybe the funniest thing we've ever done, in its entirety.

These are like... art nouveau versions of Hypnothalamus doodles. They look like they could be scarab amulets. Just really cool.

I've been working in sketchbooks more as part of a class assignment; here are some of my recent sketches 👉👈 I've been trying to draw what comes to me in the moment, and not worry too much about the output or making everything perfect, but also put time into each to make it feel 'done' as a sketch.
Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a woman with stylized hair Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a figure with a stylized owl headdress. The wings of the headdress cover the figure's eyes. A graphite sketch of a a face surrounded by a sphere of churning, splashing water A graphite sketch of a beared man with a sword plunging through his forehead and out his chin (in a stylized, non gory way).

It might be because you're approaching them head on. If you approach a shy animal with all your energy pointed at them, it can read as threatening. If you turn your body sideways as you approach and don't make eye contact, you might have more luck.

Show me how you draw armor PLEASE
A realistic digital painting of Galadriel from Rings of Power. Portrait is from the waist up. Galadriel is wearing a finely crafted Elven suit of armor with a pearl-inlaid metal star emblazoned on her chest and chain mail peeking out around the edges of her cuirass. Her long blonde hair hangs loose and blowing off her shoulders, highlighted by golden sunlight streaming in on her left side that casts most of her in shadow. The background is a gradient of deep warm gray, brown, and soft taupe.

I love that they don't really dry all the way. They're soaked in ink, so they feel a bit gooey no matter how long I let them sit.

My dad recycles the heavy duty paper covers his camera plates come in and uses them to clean his printing press, and he'll reuse them over over until they're saturated with ink. If he thinks they're pretty or might be good to draw on he'll give them to me LOL.

Feel bad for "summoned by mirror" entities. Oh, you didn't really want to meet me despite saying my name five times? Rude.

super cool study found human artifacts in Bearded vulture nests, incl. "weaponry like a crossbow bolt and wooden lance, decorated sheep leather, and parts of a slingshot....a shoe made from twigs and grass is ~675-years-old." link to paper: doi.org/10.1002/ecy..... www.popsci.com/environment/... 🧪🌍🦉

Good morning! Remember to hang in there—things are getting better even if you can't see it today. I know this because it once took twelve popes to ban striped clothing.

Maybe foxcore is the word I want? That seems a little too late & getting into grunge and 4 Non-Blondes territory. But maybe.

Anyway, here's Colorhaus. Just because they made one album and no one has ever heard of them: www.youtube.com/watch?v=minF...

I don't know what you call this genre. Alternative pop punk? Shakespears Sister, Voice of the Beehive, Colorhaus, Primitives, Scarlet, Cocteau Twins.

It's the genre of "Stuff I listened to when I was 9 and reading Francesca Lia Block books" lol.

Not that artists are critters. Creatures, at the very least.
elicia.bsky.social
You know those articles that are like, "We built a crossing for critters. Do you want to see video of all the critters using the crossing?" And YEAH I DO are you kidding? Of course I'm watching that shit?? Because it's critters discovering a new thing??? That's how I feel about artists.

I genuinely love seeing amateur art because I genuinely love seeing how other people perceive things. To me, there's no information on earth more useful, more wonderful, or more enlightening than how other people process living.

Friendly reminder putting my art on your lock screens to keep it nice and warm next to your butt cheek is always ok with me.
elicia.bsky.social
Posting this for the nice person who asked to use it for their lock screen but couldn't find it (and also you can't DM photos yet lol).

Speaking of hawk how is the word hawk not onomatopoeia. Every time I hear a hawk she's saying HAWK. Even in Old English the word is haefoc, which is HEE VAWK, which is simply the other word hawks say when they're not saying HAWK.
elicia.bsky.social
There's a hawk outside having a screamy chitchat with no one, and there's a bluejay a few trees away practicing imitating her, and she is so annoyed about it.

That is my assignment to you! Don't look at ratings or I'll know and I'll send the skeleton army.
elicia.bsky.social
Every time I go to r/bookshelf or letterboxd I see the same books and movies. Pick something that is potentially crap! I promise you will survive. It's not a waste of time if you're the one choosing how to spend it. Stop looking for reassurance that you're correct. Be happy and wrong.
elicia.bsky.social
I am begging you to find a book or movie you've never heard of that looks interesting and take a risk. You don't have to only enjoy things other people have approved.
