We can all agree that Elon has never invented _anything_ whatsoever, and is not even a qualified engineer. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2018 based on false representations as to his qualifications. The Royal Society is trying to figure out now how to rescind it.

OK, so our "Secretary of War" currently has two big priorities: (1) murdering innocent fishermen in the Caribbean, and (2) endangering the lives of commuters in Southern California.

The US has formally threatened Norway with denial of visas, limits on trade & other sanctions if Norway votes to hold shippers by sea responsible for their global pollution & damage to the worlds environment.

Norway intends to ignore this threat.

"Why does President Donald Trump wish to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize? The president knows that Norway is a hotbed for the radical Marxist left, with its people living behind an iron curtain of state controlled, Soviet style mainstream media that almost solely allows socialist-globalist perspectives to be heard.

Reminder: Norway consistently scores at the top of the world's nations on indices of functional democracies and freedom of the press.

Trumps US - does not.

On a personal note:

I moved back to Norway in 2001.

Newt Gingrich and the religious right had broken through into the mainstream with their updated version of far right John Birch society in your face Earth 2 apocalyptic extremism that now has an iron grip on Trumps GOP.

At that time Norway did not yet have its incarnation of Anne Coulter: Norwegian mainstream media was gloriously free of the too-thin, too blond, divorced from reality but witty and willing to employ their Trump-preferred Mar-a-Lago endorsed style in service of far right extremism that now dominates Trumps orbit.

And it struck me that this was an opening that some Norwegian woman could exploit to gain media visibility and ply that into a decent living.

Like Nabintu Herland my background is in the academic study of lived religions. I recognize and know how effective emotionally loaded calls to immediate extreme action to defeat a conjured evil can be.

It saddens me beyond words to see Nabintu Herland use her knowledge and perch in one of the worlds last genuinely democratic and functional democracies to call for action that would end it.
