My debut picture book, NO ROOM FOR BIRDS, is coming summer 2027 from Greenwillow Books!(!!!!!)

Getting to make this book still feels so special and surreal. I hope you read it and love it, especially if you’ve ever thought about how many birds in your kitchen would be truly alarming.

Oh also this ends tonight so hop on it and I’ll only be a little mad if you outbid me.

Wildly proud to be part of this unstoppable, responsive community. And next time I hope I’ll be quick enough to offer an item for bid!

I’m taking today off from book work for today’s National Day of Action.

I have a couple hours before today’s protest at the state house, so let’s see how far I get on this piece to (hopefully, eventually) raise funds for Providence Community Libraries.

My next newsletter goes out TOMORROW! It is so late that it includes big news I had planned to share in my NEXT newsletter. But my dallying is your gain.

It also includes some tiny paintings of my favorite books of 2025. Is this why the newsletter is late? An eternal mystery!

Got to use JooHee’s gorgeous book 100 Birds of Rhode Island to assure myself that the robin I saw is probably a robin.

Today I learned that many robins do stay put for the winter (although it seems like it’s climate change related?) and that they’re a type of thrush.

Anyway it was a treat to see this guy on my little run around my neighborhood today and to not slip and fall on the ground while looking for birds.

"How do I find my art style?"
I've been a creative pro for 10 years, this is the number 1 question I get.

They want creative work to be recognizably theirs in an instant-- like Miyazaki or Wes Anderson movies.

This is the formula for art style, it's much simpler than you think.

Yet another reminder, we are the majority
Parental restrictions on library access continues to remain incredibly unpopular for a fourth year in a row.

The vast majority of public school parents are not looking to limit their children’s access in the library.

That’s a wrap! Thanks for sticking with me through a full month of little boar drawings.

Will I ever post this much again? Probably! But for now I’m going to spend most of my November reading fiction and playing Hades 2.

Please enjoy this grid as a last #peachtoboar treat.

Tonight! This may be hopelessly nerdy but I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing the library at night.

I am also looking forward to dancing and drinks and the normal things people like about parties. But to do it all at a library? What a treat.
