Yep, I got the “maudlin”pronunciation and was thinking it must be “sinjun”

There is cultural class (eg old money in the upper class) and financial class.

I’m very annoyed that very posh Nigel Farage (went to expensive posh school, stockbroker) has somehow defined himself as man of the people. (Because he drinks ale? Not sure.)
This is the second “what is class in US” discussion I’ve seen in 3 days. I enjoyed this suggestion someone made:
“Really we just gotta redo the whole classification: “I make a living,” “comfortable,” and “rich [nobody will ever self select this one]””

I’m from UK so it’s v complicated for me (cont
Wow. Ulrike Derickson negotiating with terrorists to free hostages and paying for fuel. Plus more. How brave.
Yep. I was just adding the 19th /20th century data I had for my family to agree with others saying the same thing.
Ok. I’ve got Magdalen (Oxford spelling), Caius (goes with Gonville) but St John? Like Norman St John-Stevas?

possibly the funniest political moment of the year
Kemi Badenoch’s ability to plant political time bombs that blow up in the face of the party she leads is truly unparalleled.

What’s particularly impressive here is she could have found this out herself before raising the profile of this issue at PMQs.

Me, not trolling my relative to ask why their son didn’t make it into the hot priests calendar. (Son left the priesthood, so a double troll.)

This is growth.
I have read enough Menswear Guy “how much it costs to make” threads to get that.

(I knew, but I like that he puts real life facts into it.)
Would they get a Union flag? A tattoo of King George III? I think not. Same rules, surely?
Had this conversation with a teen student a few years ago. About Corbyn (who I didn’t much like but didn’t hate either) but could have been about anyone. My main point: humans are flawed. All of us. Yes, including that person you think is amazing.
I gave the benefit of the doubt in the first 3 months (it was summer, they ended Bibby Stockholm use, they put proposal for renters’ rights) but it’s been downhill since then. Now I mostly have scorn and anger.
Part of my reaction to stuff like this is “natural” doesn’t mean safe. Belladonna is natural! Etc.

Also in 2002 (?) the EU started regulating supplements the way they did food. I know of one company that struggled to comply with the new laws. Which showed how much the regulation was needed.
Oh and “Since 2001, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, the company which supplies drinking water and wastewater services to most of Wales and parts of western England, has operated as a single-purpose, not-for-profit company with no shareholders, "run solely for the benefit of customers".”
“England and Wales became the only countries in the world to have a fully privatised water and sewage disposal system. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, water and sewerage services remained in public ownership.”
Wikipedia

Only countries in the world. For a damn good reason.
It’s the most ridiculous thing. Thatcher ran out of things to privatise. So they did water. You cannot have a market in water! You cannot change companies! It’s a monopoly. I was furious (as a teen) when they did it. I’m furious again now.
The idea was a regulator would stop abuses. Not happened.
How the fuck are dividends being paid out when the water companies are so shit?!
Nationalise the water companies.
Govt publishes England water companies' league of sewage dumping and pollution .

Worst since 2011. 9 companies collectively received 19 out of possible 36 stars.

Thames Water the lowest rating of 1. Seven firms score only 2.

No fines on execs. No exec prosecuted. Dividends paid. Customers fleeced

And let us be clear: the judge said the Parachute Regiment murdered people and lied about it, in roughly as many words.

Because of delay and lies, it couldn’t be proven to the criminal standard which individuals murdered; but those troops murdered and lied.

I saw a post last night about trying to find a body in Alberta, Canada from a murder in the 1990s. And someone saying how important it was to get her murdered friend’s body back (it was in pieces). So this resonates. Having the body is so important. It makes me think of the Moors Murders, too.

I hope the flight is good and it’s for an enjoyable reason.

(I only went back to sleep for 20-25 mins after my alarm so not a lot of oversleep.)
