the worst trend in female character design for anthropomorphic characters in media has to be the absolute refusal to give women snouts.

gacha games and fortnite are especially egregious with this. come on. just a bit of a snout. it's not hard, people. give the wolf girl a snout. and DON'T squish it

Here's a nerdy one. The "Funtastic Series" of Nintendo 64 consoles released in the US in March of 2000. So late in the system's life, that this was after the PS2's initial Japanese release. Odd to see rather sarcastic takes of now iconic, beloved, and sought after systems when they were new.

KB toys print ad for the "Funtastic Series" of Nintendo 64 games. Systems in translucent plastic shells priced at $99 each, a light blue "Ice" system featured prominently with other variants underneath; grey "Smoke", orange "Fire", indigo "Grape", pink-red "Watermelon", and green "Jungle". Also advertised are three software titles, Pokémon Stadium, Mario Party 2, and Ridge Racer 64.

"What do you do when your videogame console has become as obsolete as a Betamax machine? Do you tip your hat and bid farewell as it rides off into the big arcade in the sky? Do you light it on fire and send it out to sea like a valiant warrior? Do you ignore it hoping that one day you'll "rediscover" it in some fit of uncontrollable nostalgia?"

IGN "Funtastic N64 Consoles" continued.

"Of course not.

You dress it up in some flashy new colors and pretend it's a whole new system! The more exciting the colors, the more exciting the gaming experience right? Contrary to what you might have read, it is big news when the emperor gets new clothes! The Nintendo 64 console has been re-released in six delicious new colors, known as the Funtastic series, and the gaming world is all abuzz because of it.

Sure the Playstation 2 just launched in Japan, but in the U.S. all of the kiddies have just been introduced to Smoke, Ice, Watermelon, Jungle Green, Grape and Fire Nintendo 64 consoles and that's all that matters. While those cool yummy names are just fancy ways of saying black, blue, pink, green, purple and orange, nobody can deny the way games play on one of these high energy systems."
