the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

I think one reason it took me to long to realize that I was attracted to women was because I was only ever attracted to male characters growing up and thus never entertained the idea.

But as it turns out, I just never saw my type on screen

It doesn't help that big, muscular women are so often written to have unattractive personalities-- to be mean brutes or bullies. Or they are side characters that don't get enough development for me to get attached to them.

If you feel surveilled by someone & like you have to tiptoe around subjects that you want to talk about because someone in your proximity will take it personally, it is time to completely ignore them.

You shouldn't silence yourself bc someone else refuses to take responsibility for their own life

a lesson learned I've learned is that when a person is dead set on the idea that you are their nemesis & committed to misunderstanding you at every opportunity, that signifies a great shame & insecurity in them that they are trying to weaponize to silence you. Don't let it & keep your distance.

But I think it's way funnier to act like you chose to be born to inconvenience them specifically.
