i have NEVER edited a book like the one i'm editing right now. it's a work of mad genius. i'm not sure where it's going, i'm just gripping on for dear life (and trying to improve clarity and promote authorial voice).

In Tales from Myriad, not all monsters are inherently hostile or ready to fight to the death. They can often be bargained, & if it comes to a fight, heavy losses might convince them to retreat.
The PCs can take a chance to roll against the creature's attitude & try to avoid a deadly confrontation.
