AKA cougrr, Belaset, KnittingPirate, inkthusiasm

My hobby is collecting hobbies - I draw/knit/spin, play guitar/drums, snowboard in winter, bike the rest of the year, and I sure play a mean pinball.
My rendition of "Waiting for Breakfast" was so much fun to paint, especially the glow from the kitchen. The painting was inspired by the original photo here: mastoart.social/@thekamikaze...

What a way to spend a Tuesday night: eating half-price candy corn while watching the election results come in.

This painting, inspired by "Gift From the Sea," was my entry to the library's art contest. I didn't win, but that's okay - I got inspired by the prompt & painted one of the best pieces (IMO) that I've ever made. Progress pics & more details: www.patreon.com/posts/digita...

I had fun with these tiles: www.patreon.com/posts/digita...

My Patreon is a fundraiser for my brother, who was jailed for a crime he didn't commit. He's home now, but of course finding a job has been near-impossible.

I post weekly. He gets every penny.

Here is a corrected version of it. It should have any and all typos taken care of - but feel free to point out any! I want this to be squared away before I make any prints! Thanks, #JewSky for your enthusiasm!

After making several plain stockinette sweaters on the knitting machine, I thought it was time to level up and try something more textured... and that calls for swatching. Details on the blog, if you're interested :)

Just the sleeves left to go, now... and I bought some more yarn, perhaps as a consolation prize for not going to Rhinebeck this year. ;)

I'm surprised at how quickly this sweater is going! To make sure I get the length right, I'm going to stop soon and wash/block it before I knit the ribbing at the bottom hem. Some people can pull off cropped sweaters, but not me :)

I like how some mushrooms look as if they're wearing frilly little skirts. Perhaps I'll paint some more of them and play that up a little... maybe even create a shroom-inspired character!

It's mushroom season! This was fun to paint.

I really wish bsky would let you expand a thread/its replies without opening each post as its own page (I'm on a laptop, not mobile) so you have to go back and forth a whole bunch to see the rest of the thread & replies. "+2 more replies" actually led to another 8 posts in the thread, ffs. Whyyyyy.

I posted last year, mid-winter, "That warm-&-cozy feeling of sliding into bed when the flannel sheets are freshly washed and everything's all tucked in around the edges." Immediate reply from someone who had to tell me they don't like flannel sheets. Good thing they're not sleeping in my bed, then?
Not my picture but my god this EXACTLY sums up why I'm so done with goddamn internet discourse. Everyone feels they have to have a take. It feels like people are seeking out negativity rather than just... enjoying what they do like.

I genuinely don't wanna be around people who act like this anymore

Still playing with watercolour landscapes, still loving just letting the paint flow around.

This painting is for sale! :)

It's a good thing I'm not going to Rhinebeck, because this sweater will definitely not be done by then! (I ripped it out and started over, after I took this picture.)

This is my go-to recipe for bread if I want to make grilled cheese sandwiches. (It is written for an 8x4" pan, but I scaled it up to fit a 9x5".) The end piece is always for taste-testing!

I spent way too many hours today researching/reading how to knit a variety of sock heels on the knitting machine... but I have other projects to work on before I can start more socks!

New socks day! (Not that it's cold enough to wear them, yet.) I knit the cuff and legs on the machine, and then the plain parts by hand.

Today's (public) Patreon post is a watercolour painting with some seriously vivid sky. I tried different paints for this one, and got an unexpected effect. www.patreon.com/posts/waterc...

Today's painting is little sheep in a meadow.

I set up a ko-fi shop for my art last week and I already sold a piece! I'll be adding more soon, including unframed work (which will cost less to ship, for sure).

I don't know if #FinishOrFrogAlong is happening here as well as on Mastodon, but either way, I'm checking this one off as "complete" - a sockhead hat knit with some of the oldest yarn in my stash. More pictures and some rambling on the blog :)

I learned a lot while painting this one, and I'm really happy with the way it came out in the end - even if I had to use more layers of paint than I'd intended!

I got as far as picking the specific piece of literature I want to use as inspiration for an art contest at my local library, but WAUGH choosing the

- subject
- pose
- composition
- reference picture(s)
- medium
- everything else

is HARD and I am FRUSTRATED and AAAAAGH.
September 2, 2025 at 12:47 AM
I don't enjoy knitting fine-gauge colourwork on sock needles, so I knit the cuffs/legs of these socks on the machine, then switched to hand-knitting for the plain stockinette feet. And of course, I blogged about it :)

Despite multiple issues with the way the pattern was written, I'm really happy with these finished socks! They're thick, squishy, and warm. (And yes, the legs are the same length when one sock isn't turned sideways.)
