The way I got a happy birthday from someone named WillGrahamsSlickyPubes on AO3 before my own family, I'm crying LMAO

I even went out of my way this year and got her a big thoughtful gift and a card for her bday and surprised her with it only for her to act like I'm dead on mine. And I'll probably do it again like a dumbass next year. Family am I right...

I've been participating in fandom culture since I was 9/10 years old. I'm not going anywhere lol this is all I know 😭

“you’re too old for fandom” you’re just weak, this will be me in my 80s

None of my family wished me happy bday or even so much as acknowledged me (by family I mean my sister bc she's all I have but even then lol 🤷‍♀️) but I am at a point in my life where all I can do is shrug. If there is just one person who cares & made an effort, that's all that matters

Thinking a lot about "Harvester" this week.
It was a 1996 PC game that was made both to be super-violent, but also as a meta-commentary on violent games.
The 90s were a really rough time for video games, with conservative groups battling against them constantly.
An ad from a 1996 magazine for the game Harvester
Taglines are "A Strange and Twisted World" and "The most violent adventure game of all time"
It's rated for 18, and an image of the grim reaper stands in front of some town buildings at night, including Edna's Diner (with the E urnt out on the sign)
