Avoid character complexity in fonts. Simpler shapes and patterns of typographical text are more quickly and accurately analyzed by the human mind. Be careful with complex fonts, especially for long sections of text.

Part 1 Under Pressure

The pressure to produce work, market and sell it is a stressful process which is put on us by ourselves or others. It is important to prioritize our health and mental wellbeing when we create and engage! #MentalHealthDay

A SIMPLE GUIDE TO PROVIDING USEFUL ALT ON BLUESKY

1/ ALT's sole function on Bluesky is to provide an autonomous & as fully equivalent an experience of an image as possible for the blind/VI & neurodivergent

If you can see it & read it, I should be able to feel or hear it without leaving Bluesky

Mental Health in Web3!

Teia is all about community, and we want to look after ours!

In the next few days we’ll tweet a series on mental health and safety for anyone in digital art communities.

It's a bit older now but I ended up with a Puzzle Heartway or something like that. I can get on and off public transport no issues, it breaks apart fairly easily and not too heavy and fits in your average sedan boot. It's on the cheaper end of the spectrum or was then anyway.

If you use the clapping hands emoji between every word for emphasis, screen reader users will hear "clapping hands" after each word. This is true for any emoji. This will be distracting, annoying, and disorienting. The message you're trying to emphasize will likely be lost.
You are welcome I'm not the best at explanations but it has been amazing connecting with so many people who get it! We find we have to drop in and out fairly frequently with health of course which makes us a much more fluid community than usual but you won't get in trouble for that either. 🩷

When writing alt text, ask yourself if you would picture an approximation of the image if it was described to you over the phone using the alt text you've written. Doing that exercise can be a good way to determine if you're on the right track.
For many people it was the first time being able to connect with others outside their home and we found a lot of crossover between these groups with access and communication etc. So it comes from Disabled Artists originally but we think the term has a lot of application for the wider community.
Yes it came about with the web3/online communities formed as a by-product of crypto and covid isolation. Originally it was Disabled Artists who were able to connect online with each other in higher numbers than before and in turn significantly increased awareness and a push for accessibility.
Cyberpunk body mods would be amazing and you could add so many extra cool things into them.
Have you heard the term CIND before?
(CIND= pronounced - kind-)

It's intended to be an inclusive acronym for the Chronic, Neurodivergent and Disability communities. Like the LGBTQIA+ acronym, it is a spectrum of people with different conditions who can often face similar challenges and barriers.🦾♿️
I haven't watched the block in a while and caught a few minutes the other day and I switched it off, it was just so wrong.

I'm starting to learn to try and write myself it is very early days and mostly on these platforms but I did recently manage to produce and get published my first longer piece (not long long like 1000 words)

I have needed to take some personal time recently to recover but I really want to share the gorgeous works submitted to our competition. I am adding this to #Alt4Me so I can get these Artists works out there! 😘. Top two images relate to acid attacks and the bottom middle is called Rainbow Vitiligo.❤️

I stumbled across this post today while doing research for work. And MAN is this a good lesson for all software development teams.

TREAT ACCESSIBILITY AS BUGS, NOT FEATURE REQUESTS!!!!
I completely agree although Thankfully the Google and Apple store both seem to require it to be listed in their app stores so it's at least something.

We all know the extreme level of online harassment and abuse some cohorts face and all the ways this can and will lead to real life mental and physical harm.

It's time a base set of Social Media safety features were required by legislation - law.

A photo from the flower room in 'The Monet in Paris' exhibit currently in Brisbane. They used an AI program outside the front door to do Impressionist style artworks which didn't seem able to pick me up in my wheelchair. So I made my own instead 😁 #MonetInParis #Impressionists #AccessibleEvent
