It is the birthday in 1949 of the American author and illustrator Jan Brett. If you’ve gotten books for a child in the last 30 years, you know her work. Her titles include "The Mitten," "The Hat," "Gingerbread Baby," and "Who’s That Knocking on Xmas Eve?"

Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

#WorldAIDSDay this year is a grim one

Stories of the devastating impact of US, British and wider European aid cuts on the fight against HIV – particularly in sub-Saharan Africa – continue to mount as 2025 comes to an end…

Aid cuts have shaken HIV/Aids care to its core – and will mean millions more infections ahead
Reports highlight devastating impact of slashed funding, especially in parts of Africa, that could lead to 3.3m new HIV infections by 2030

As i was packing for the move, I ran across my World AIDS day T-Shirt from 1994 (I was in graduate school). It's a cool shirt and I'm glad I kept it.

HIV stigma is still one of the biggest barriers to care, but storytelling can shift culture.

This #WorldAIDSDay, GLAAD celebrates the advocates, artists, content creators, and community leaders using their voices to challenge misinformation and reimagine what HIV representation looks like in media.

Today December 1st is #WorldAIDSDay.
I remember the millions who have died.
I celebrate the transformative progress that has been made.
I resolve as an HIV researcher and advocate to keep up the fight to end the HIV epidemic.
Do you know you status?
Get tested. Get treated. Get on PrEP.

On #WorldAIDSDay we remember the incredible activism that turned the tide on this deadly epidemic in the past

I’m sad that funding cuts by G7 nations are making such activism necessary yet again

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

And that is one of the problems. She did not appropriately use or cite the ONE “source” she claimed to have.

She didn’t even quote the Bible. She just mentions it without giving any actual citations.

Not surprisingly, they lie about what happened — she wasn’t flunked for quoting the Bible; she never even quoted it — and accuse the instructor, whom they name, as being “mentally ill”

It's not great that a student can turn in a bad essay but vaguely point to the Bible and religious beliefs as an excuse for not following the actual assignment and terrible writing. That's not what college is supposed to be.

The professor did nothing wrong but she was pulled off the course anyways.

I also can't help but believe that this is targeted against the professor because they're queer. This is exactly what happened in Texas. It's a witch hunt to push LGBTQ people out of academia.
