Few studies have examined what drives heat pump adoption disparities.

To address this, a new study examined heat pump adoption and found that differences in building age explain a much larger portion of the racial disparity in heat pump use than income and homeownership: doi.org/10.1016/j.er...

We showed that R&D investment is the most cost effective for reducing DACS costs compared to other scaling methods. However, if the technology is already mature with high learning rates and low potential for technological breakthroughs, then R&D yields no net benefit. #CDR #DAC

🌍 New #CCS research in #ERL highlights the urgency of scaling carbon capture tech. If Carbon Capture and Storage grows too slowly, global temperatures could rise an extra +0.12°C 🌡️, but rapid action could cut transition costs by $11T.
