Ending the two-child benefit cap in today's budget is huge, wonderful news for the 500,000 children lifted out of poverty and the 1 million who will face less deep poverty. But the other 4.1m children in poverty deserve the same. This was the right start: now do the rest.

The sources of the crises in our society – the super rich, oil and gas companies, banks and energy companies – will be delighted that today's budget chooses to protect them and tax us instead.

Every budget is a collection of political choices. This one chose to double down on a broken system. Protecting billionaires at the expense of the rest of us will entrench inequality and further undermine peoples' faith in the system.

Also, Norway set up a sovereign wealth fund from the profits of gas and oil extraction that is now topping out at $2 trillion; where is the UK's?! There isn't one.

"But, Neil, where have all those trillions of £'s gone?" I hear you ask.👇
The super-rich have thrived at our expense over the last 35 years. This much wealth in the hands of 156 people is corrosive to the public good. Today's budget must take steps towards a system where billionaires do not exist!

Today is European Equal Pay Day.
The gender pay gap robs women workers of their pay from now until the end of the year.

The Pay Transparency Directive is our tool to close the gap — but only if it’s made a reality on the ground. We demand action: no delays, no derogations!

People with disabilities face huge barriers to accessing work – and when they are working, are underpaid by an average of £4,000 a year. But employers don't even need to report their disability pay gaps, let alone work to close them.

To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britain’s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term 🤦‍♂️

…and also, just incidentally, an absolute non-negotiable requirement for meeting UK climate targets 😬🥵☠️

🚨 BREAKING: The government has tabled their plan to restrict repeat protests.

Demonstrations could now banned based on the 'cumulative disruption' that previous protests have caused in the area - regardless of if they have been organised by the same people or not.

This is worse than we feared.
