Periodic reminder: Trump has done everything imaginable to piss off senior military. -Keep Hegseth who endangers their lives -Favor whiteness/maleness over competence -Self-aggrandize in speeches; ramble about trophy wives. -Mock them on hallowed ground.
During a military-style raid on a building in Chicago’s South Shore, one resident heard a knock on his door. It wasn’t the feds — it was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for help.
Congress (requires 2/3 in both Houses if Trump contests): So far Trump has held a Mafia-like hold over most Republicans. Likely many want to be done with him but no one wants to face the wrath of Trump's acolytes. Based on how we got here, have to assume 2/3 requirement (~1/3 Repubs) would fail.
Rubio, although he might otherwise be retained, should be especially anti-25th. He needs Trump to finish his term so Vance doesn't enter the 2028 primaries as an incumbent frontrunner.
Agreed. It all depends on how much / what kind of influence Miller (who is an imbecile and would inflame tensions in an instant) exerts over Trump (who's interested in his own poll numbers more than torturing brown people).
His slip of the tongue reveals who’s really in charge. trib.al/mIvP0yE
“Illinois governor says we’re provoking actions that are unlawful,” Miller said on CNN. “If I put federal law enforcement and National Guard into a nice sleepy Southern town, is anyone gonna riot?”
More context for @gurruwagana.bsky.social : Often the children are US citizens. They will then pressure the parents to remove the kids rather than leaving them with family, etc.
Yup. Historically they've dropped most of these cases pretty quickly after using the lie to justify roughing someone up.
Following Baraka v. Habba where Newark mayor alleging arrest and malicious prosecution sued back. Suing her outside of official capacity storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Pretty sure Judge Ellis isn't going to like this video. Given that the WGN employee's detainment was captured on multiple videos (and the DHS agents did not have any identifying information) this is pretty blatant contempt of court.
They're alleging obstruction of justice, which is so silly I doubt they even try to indict. Hopefully these videos include the moments before the incident of her acting like a journalist. Could be really bad for Border Patrol/DHS.
I don't think that's true any more, but certainly a lot of us remember growing up with Harry Caray calling the games on WGN on cable hundreds of miles from Chicago. (They since separated off the national channel.)
It's Nexstar's flagship station, which seems a bit ironic.
I just watched the video of the Portland Cop threatening to arrest an ICE agent if they drive their truck through a crowd. Now I see this where the General of the Oregon National Guard says if they get called up they will protect the protesters. People are fed up. www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...
What I've gleaned from lawyers on here based on recent case law is that it's very hard to get any sort of criminal accountability even in civil rights cases. Do you disagree? Are there recent cases I should look at?
Noem in her official capacity would be defendant because DHS has hired the bottom of the barrel and failed to train them not to lie. Presumably that can be litigated too.
But trust answers from lawyers instead of me. I just read stuff.
eh, unless we reform the courts fast they'll hide behind QI and get away with it. But our taxes will be paying a lot of settlements long after Donald is gone from this earth so I guess that's good.
A restraining order was issued YESTERDAY by a federal judge barring detention of journalists in this district unless they refuse to reposition themselves and are given adequate time to do so, or there’s probable cause they’ve committed a crime.
BREAKING: Masked Border Patrol agents aggressively arrested WGN video producer Debbie Brockman in Lincoln Square Friday morning, supposedly for "obstructing justice." (Video via Josh Thomas on Facebook)
