I love Digimon to bits but it's creation had weird consequences for Tamagotchi as a brand. It was made to be "tamagotchi for boys"(even tho boys had no issues with playing with tamas?) so conversely the tamagotchi brand changed to be as girly as possible because gendered marketing makes more money?
