Trump spent months falsely claiming that Biden was behind the New York and the Fulton County prosecutions of him, dragooning congressional toadys into harassing state authorities with frivolous subpoenas, as if to make a political point. Now he is foing exactly what he falsely accused Biden of.

Legislatures can evade judicial review of even their racially discriminatory maps simply by passing them as close as possible to Election Day so long as they confer upon Republicans a partisan advantage. A Democratic-skewed map would undoubtedly run afoul of some doctrine, contrived if necessary.
There are so many things wrong with this ruling, including the total disregard for the clear error standard. But what really gets me is the notion that legislatures can evade judicial review of their maps simply by passing them as close as possible to Election Day
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Just listing the family conflicts of interest alone and staggering amounts of money - taxpayer money - going from government coffers to Trump family pockets requires an indictment length document. No functioning system of governance can tolerate this.

Ingrassia is blocked by Sen Repubs, his own party, to lead Office of Special Counsel because of, among other things his published racist and anti-semitic statements. He then runs point for the WH burying evidence against Andrew Tate. Now he is in a top position at GSA.

In the run-up to the 2016 election, even as he was campaigning and denouncing evidence of his Russia financial ties as a hoax, Trump was secretly negotiating to put up a Trump Tower in Moscow. Media has forgotten. It's always been a Trump dream. Now he can revel in it.
The real goal of the talks is to increase the Trump family fortune.

That's why Kushner is in Moscow.

Just remember that Kushner wanted to install a direct link to Moscow from the WH using Russian equipment so "it wouldn't be tracked."

A mob family is running the country.

Sure. What is your position on Schumer and Senate Democrats dawdling on most of these seats for the entire last year of Biden's term, allowing instead Trump to fill them with election denying toadys? This is what Democratic voters want to be honestly discussed.

Surprising a law suit has not already been filed in US court.
The family of the Colombian fisherman who was killed in the Sept. 15 US military strike in the Caribbean Sea filed a formal complaint Tuesday with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights alleging the US government illegally killed him.

This is an unfolding train wreck in very slow motion. At least 5 separate US Attorneys are declaring at DOJ insistence that the existing court findings of their illegitimacy are to be ignored. This is not only a challenge to already reluctant courts, it (rightfully) endangers every criminal case.
NEW: Despite being disqualified from serving as acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Trump loyalist Alina Habba and the DOJ are still claiming she’s the top federal prosecutor in the state. And she isn’t the first Trump appointee to do so.

Kavanaugh will have to vote either to reverse himself on the constitutionality of his own Frankenstein monster creation of Kavanaugh stops, or reverse this lower court. Maybe not that close a call for him.
While we were sleeping, a huge ruling:

Federal judge blocks the Trump administration from warrantless immigration arrests in Washington, D.C. “without a pre-arrest individualized determination … of probable cause.”

Biden would not have called these "Biden accounts", would have merged them into the superior 529 account scheme, would have run the donation through public funding and audit mechanisms, and would not have engaged in overt pay to play. So Dell saw his chance with Trump.

Was Trump similarly sleeping through discussion of the order to lethally double-tap civilian boaters in the Caribbean?
if i worked in a White House with an elderly and ailing president who had a hard time staying awake, i would simply recommend against having 3 hour cabinet meetings that are boring af and pointless and best remembered for the fact said president is sleeping on camera

Similarly 6th Circuit judge Jane Branstetter Stranch announced in January of 2024 - 2024! - that she would leave her seat upon confirmation of her Biden-nominated successor. Dems never nominated one and Trump filled that spot with Whitney Hermandorfer, who denies the right to birthright citizenship
What Dem Senators are too embarrassed to tell you is that their own complicity, through indolence, prevented Biden from filling this seat. The seat was vacated when Judge Biggs assumed senior status in Dec 2024, as all knew in advance. Yet they twiddled their thumbs and handed the seat to Trump.
Senate Republicans just handed David Bragdon a LIFETIME judicial appointment— a man who compared abortion to murder and said women "must face the consequences" for their "poor judgment."

Republicans are stacking the courts with anti-choice extremists and hoping you don't notice.

We had 4 years to try to fix it already and no one was held accountable, leading to the restoration of the autocracy. And that was with Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate.

Think about why the previous opportunity to restore democracy was a failure.
I think about this every day.
The fascists won temporarily, but fascism is for losers. They'll fail. They are con men and swindlers. And when they do lose, we make a real democracy. The kind they hate. Their "creative destruction" will be democracy rising.

Just like during his criminal trial. Even Stormy Daniels can't keep him up.

But none of that stopped people from voting for him.

The US District Court for New Jersey and now the US Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit have ruled Alina Habba is not the lawful US Attorney. Yet still she occupies the seat. Leader Jeffries proposes Congress pass a law changing her official title to "So-called U.S. Attorney for New Jersey".
The so-called U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba is serving in that position unlawfully.

She is an unqualified political hack and a complete disgrace.

It’s time for her to go.
