I’m so thrilled to have a
comic in McSweeneys with Kathryn Baecht!! But also now my search history has *That Hat*, “DJT’s pubic hair signature,” and “sawed-off shotgun” in it so let’s see what ads I get now…

I am so jealous - this was my 1st pick. Looking forward to your essay and also listening to it on repeat while flipping through yearbooks.

omg I did not know I’d come here to find fellow @marchxness.bsky.social essayists and stumble on a fellow Kate Braverman fan 😍😍😍

Personally I prefer “Do You Sleep” but just know you have the support of someone who wrote one of her favorite essays ever … about Live’s “I Alone” 😑

The awesome @erinmcreynolds.bsky.social and I have a satirical cartoon in the @bostonglobe.com today about budget cuts at NOAA. We created this piece well before the devastating floods here in central Texas. I'm happy for the piece to run, but I also share it with a heavy heart. ❤️ Link in comments.
satirical cartoon titled animal folklore for predicting the weather without NOAA. Each picture is an animal with a small proverb. If cat hair fills the air, of heat ye must beware. Rat in puffer, deep cold we'll suffer. Rat with a glass, hail will soon pass, If a lizard be depressed, gray skies at best. Happy lizard be seen, apply full strength sun screen. Fizzy pomarianian, soon it will be rainian. Squirrel with an acorn, blue skies this fine morn. But with kite and key, lightening twill be. if a grackle spins round, a tornado you've found. Horse on wheels, hurricane at its heels.

Punching bad guys has, historically, not worked out well for me, so I cartoon instead.

The best satire sometimes predicts the future, as is the case with this terrific piece about predicting the weather. Thank you @kathrynbaecht.bsky.social and @erinmcreynolds.bsky.social

@kathrynbaecht.bsky.social and I had a graphic op-ed in the LA Times and
1. I can’t mumble that I “sometimes do cartoons” anymore and instead must admit I want to do this and please like me and pay me to do more, and
2. rubella only *looks* this fun.

I’m so sad not to have my essay in the anthology but so happy to see Danielle Evans, whom I lost to (and was a huge fan of before that — and since! 😆). It’s still one of my favorite pieces of writing though, so I’m glad I had the chance. March Xness 5eva!

The horrors persist but so does work.
