I just swore at my cat and called him an asshole, and he responded by running over to be petted.

This is kind of par for the course with him.
We don't tend to see them if the cats are nearby, precisely because either Ramses or Dax will eat the crap out of them in a very short time-frame!
We have cats, and of course like any multi-unit building we occasionally have bugs. So any time we see something small and dark on the floor, we get to play a game I like to call, "poop or bug?"

I used to think Syphilis was basically a *historical* disease. Until I started working in the healthcare industry and realized it's still "alive" and well. Terrifying.

one of the most deeply infuriating aspects of american politics is close to half of americans would love if 20% of the country starved to death
😂 Gotta keep your spirits up somehow! I hope you're doing okay!
How to tell that you're getting on in years:

My roommate and I have started gossiping about which of our healthcare providers are totally hot.
Yep! In the 70s we lived in the middle of nowhere and only got 1 TV station, but it had OldTrek on Saturday afternoons. One Saturday my school was showing Oliver Twist and mom wanted me to go. But ST started halfway through. So I went, but came home in time for Trek!
My mother (who is now in her 80s) was an SF fan, a Trekkie, and a computer programmer to boot. People also talk about how "back then" only men used computers. Whenever I bring up my mother, I'm patted on the head and told she's "the exception that proves the rule."

Lucille Ball is the reason why Star Trek made it onto the air at all, and the first Star Trek convention ever held was organized by Joan Winston, but sure, pop off on how only us menfolk are real Trekkies.
okay grandpa, let's get you to bed

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull”

First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided.

With me so far? 1/x

There is a lot of my writing on the internet and published in books/magazines etc. I've spent years working on my craft.

When this AI bubble bursts you fill find me holding an em dash in my right hand because I will have never let it go.
Freaking brilliant!
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

As someone with bipolar, you have my agreement. 👍
Awesome! I'm currently reading Glynn Stewart's Starship's Mage series. I'm on book 12. Highly recommended!
I will never (knowingly) read AI-generated fiction. Why? Because reading isn't just about the enjoyment I get out of it. It's also about supporting people who do awesome work that I love.
Wow. The lack of self-awareness was stunning.
Hey, just wanted to thank you for posting this book. I've found out the hard way in the past that things I said were racist in ways I had no idea about (color blindness being one of them) and I really appreciate a source to figure out what other baggage I'm carrying around. Thank you.
You might find something you can keep even if it doesn't work out overall, and it still might be the trigger you need to write more. So no matter what, it's a net gain!

It's a cuff called "An Ancient Wisdom": wingssilverwork.com/an-ancient-w....

Sterling silver; fossilized dinosaur bone [what I meant by "earthy"]. Scored, stamped, and texturized freehand, with freehand repoussé work; hand-wrought bezel framing that phenomenal cab:
I love this series so much! BTW, I didn't even know it was a spinoff at first, and it didn't cause me any difficulties at all.
