Rediscovering science. Emma Dumble explores the critical role of curiosity-driven research in the history of science and the recent rise of research applied to real-lide problems. Illustrated by Caterina Lue Quote: Science isn't just about solving problems; its about asking new questions, taking risks and following your intuition through the twists and turns of research. Quote: If we only value science based on its perceived immediate usefulness, or on its money-making potential, we might miss out on significant discoveries.

Did you know cats can learn picture-word associations after 9 seconds of exposure? Faster than some toddlers. Today, we aim to raise awareness about cat welfare. Cats aren’t just cute companions, they are often used in scientific research! 🐈
#Science #EuSci #InternationalCatDay
8th August Happy International Cat day. Raising awareness about cat welfare and promoting adoption The history of International Cat day. Established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Originally used for highlighting the importance of cat welfare and responsible pet ownership. Many animal rescue groups now use this to encourage adoption, spaying and neutering and proper veterinary care. Did you know that: a cat's purr ranges between 25 and 150Hz. 1 in 10 pet cats have separation anxiety. You can befriend a cat by blinking slowly. Cats can tell when a thunderstorm is coming. Cats need amino acid taurine in meat to maintain body functions. Owning a car can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mental health. Importance of cats in science research: in a study by Takagi in 2024, it was found that cats can rapidly form picture-word association after only brief exposure (9 seconds) faster than human infants (20 seconds) in a study by Martvel in 2024, it was found that domestic cats can engage in rapid facial mimicry in affiliative *friendly playing) contexts, with ear movements highly involved.
