I made a #zine about #harmreduction and #abstinenceonly frameworks. In response to #ontario HART Hubs. Free online & for distribution. Link in my bio.
There’s a kind of dramatized callout culture in some of these spaces or rage baiting for likes under the banner of protecting #Indigeneity. But when the focus shifts from structural harm to social media performance, it stops being about justice and starts being about control.
Much of the discourse around #Pretendian-hunting online feels performative and it thrives on outrage and algorithmic engagement. It starts to mirror the same #colonial structures of surveillance and punishment that it claims to challenge.
Every act of #honest reckoning even saying, “I don’t know where I belong, but I want to learn #ethically” defies #colonial conditioning. It says: we choose #repair over #reputation, community over control.
Never admit fault, because fault equals weakness, and weakness threatens control.
That’s how #capitalism and #colonialism co-produce isolation pushing people to act in #selfinterest rather than #kinship.
True #collective care requires vulnerability and repair. In saying “I caused harm, and I want to help heal it.”
Denial and legal threats shut that down. They #weaponize the same tools that have long silenced #Indigenous grievance: fear, liability, and image management.
The #colonial state, when confronted with harm, doesn’t repair. It deflects, denies, or #litigates. It safeguards its image and #power.
When individuals accused of #identityfraud do the same, they reproduce that same “protect the institution (self)” mindset over community well being.
The #Pretendian crusade exists because repair never happened. No public apologies, no redistribution, no conversations just silence. In that silence, anger grew, and the state’s logic of #punishment took over our #kinship spaces.

Does anyone know which ridings Carney and Poilievre will run in if the budget doesn't pass? Asking for a friend.

Retailers don't pay their employees well? I'm shocked. Next you'll tell me restaurants aren't great to work for.

The U.S. has conducted 10 strikes on alleged drug-carrying boats, killing 43 people.

Remember: no judge or jury has found these boats were trafficking drugs. We're simply taking Trump's word for it.

He’s unilaterally acting as judge, jury, and executioner.

This is a danger to us all.
Genetics reflects systems not origins. Healing means confronting the #colonial conditions, not just the symptoms they left behind.
#Colonialism built the conditions for trauma & those conditions that are now perpetuated through DNA, genetics, and the body itself. Our survival isn’t just biological; it’s relational, cultural, and deeply #political.

Can’t go to bed because I’m doing an experiment where I stay exhausted for my entire life
#Science is often treated as neutral, but it is practiced through a #colonial, #settler lens. Discussions of #DNA and #ancestry are important, but they are incomplete without recognizing #epigenetics and #intergenerationaltrauma
Science is not neutral, it operates through a #colonial, white settler lens. Discussions of #Indigenous identity that emphasize #ancestry or relationality often ignore how #colonialism, #capitalism, and systemic exploitation shape both science and knowledge production. Recognizing this gap is key.
It’s interesting how some #Indigenous frameworks emphasize relationality and community as markers of identity, but often ignore the role of #colonialism, #capitalism, and systemic #exploitation in shaping these identities and knowledge systems. Even when it comes to #science #genetics etc.
#Indigenous identity policing and fraud don’t exist in a vacuum. You can’t separate these issues from colonialism, assimilation, and systemic oppression they’re what create the conditions for both. To separate it & point blame to anythiny but #systemicopression can resort to #internalizedracism

It’s interesting how #intergenerationaltrauma and #epigenetics are often ignored in discourse of #Indigeniety yet some people claim cousins off-reserve are ‘white’ while others are ‘authentic’ #FNMI. Identity isn’t performance, it’s lived experience, history, and connection, not judgment.
Status and band membership are not the same. Status is a federal designation under the #IndianAct, while membership is determined by the Nation itself. So responsibility lies with the #Nation, not the government.
