College professors: is it true that all students use Chat GPT now? Is cheating rampant?

Talking about this on Monday on the show.

This is now my favorite office art ever. Amazing.
Not sure what made me do it. But thanks to #veronicavolk recorded @evandawson1.bsky.social going on about WXXI being like an almond croissant, I just felt compelled to leave a random note for the team there on my way home.

Alternatively, if you're going to use AI for a literature review: don't.

Not only does using it waste everyone else's time and resources, it defeats the entire purpose of conducting a review.
If you leverage AI in literature review, CHECK THOSE REFERENCES. I just finished reading through a proposal on a topic that I knew well, and thus was surprised to see several papers referenced that I hadn't known of. Then when I looked them up online, I found they didn't exist. 7 fake references.

The "screaming eagle" line might have been the reason this has gone viral. Touched a nerve.

I actually hate the "lol the giant asteroid will deliver us from this suffering" jokes.

Are there any other people in the progressive movement who think that humans are actually fucking amazing?

1) Finger Lakes wineries are already losing contracts to sell in Canada. Example: Lakewood Vineyards on Seneca, which signed a deal just three weeks ago.

Lakewood's Chad Hendrickson: "It’s a big deal. We should be growing, not damaging. I’m not really sure how we’re going to recover from this."

A while back I asked folks why they’re joining Bluesky and the most common response I saw was, “I just want a good place to get my news” and, yall, no. Bad.

Cool story alert:

This appears to be the first time in NYS history that five brothers have started a varsity basketball game.

The boys are all named after famous BASEBALL players! Tyrus, Teddy, Denton, Gehrig, and Mickey.

The Peters boys won their minutes 5-4.

Hi. It's me. How nice of someone to impersonate me on here before I even signed up. Please know that whoever is at @evandawson on Blue Sky is not me.

Not sure how I feel about this platform. I'm not a fan of epistemic bubbles. I also don't love X's porn and general terribleness. So we'll see!
