Having lived there, I laughed at 'temporary australians'. But tbf they are the ones that made it the law for cyclists to wear bike helmets... it's honestly horrifying seeing the things some cyclists do here.

This is an ongoing issue with my research area (people who offend against children). The rhetoric around who poses a risk is inflated and largely inaccurate - this cultivated misunderstanding vilifies one group while deflecting scrutiny of others, and doesn’t actually serve to prevent victimisation.

Thank you! It’s been an interesting (and sometimes infuriating) side quest through the maze of police FOI requests. Still lots of work ahead, but early findings highlight just how many cases remain hidden or inconsistently recorded. Really grateful for the chance to share this at #CASSPPR #DerbyUni
