I've been intending to shoot most of my serious work on slide film for a lot of different reasons; oddly enough projecting them wasn't on my radar!

Saw a medium format project on eBay for ยฃ30 and had to go for it. This is the way, forget scanning :).

Wonderful creatures at the London Zoo.

I took a closeup shot of this tupilaq on 4x5. It's actually marginally taller on the negative than in real life!

Obviously needed to photograph the two together; it looks like it's being haunted, poetic really for a little monster carving. :)
The Lady Chapel at St Bartholomew the Great.
Highlights are in a terrible state though
A still-life that I took, processed and scanned myself!

Film: Rollei RPX 25, 6x7 (shot with Linhof roll-film back)
Developer: Foma Universal, Paterson tank, inversion agitation
Shot on a Sinar P with a Rodenstock 210mm f/5.6 @f11

Started my large format journey by accidentally exposing a whole box of film.

Turns out they are very much -not- individually wrapped.

You'd think the black plastic wrapping inside would have been a giveaway but no
Played around with moderate lighting yesterday, neither blizzard white or my usual chiaroscuro.

Painted my own backdrop, too! In retrospect I should have put a fill card on the left side of the daffodils but overall nice for an ~hour of tinkering.

Every camera has autofocus, you just have to want it enough.

Detail of a still life I've been working on.
Love slidefilm -so- much. Just something magical about them, like you can't believe it's a strip of film.
Film scanning at home - losing track of which iteration I'm at. But seeing progress!

This one uses a speedlight diffused through an AC attachment.

Strongly recommend using slide film when setting up your rig. So much easier to focus.

Sold as a slide copy stand, hence why it's so small. But I've grafted a macro rail on top!

Have two clamps to hold it steady but it will be a little top heavy. Think I will bolt it to a heavy base of some kind.
Didn't expect but am fully savouring the dieselpunk aesthetic of my film scanning rig.

Reminded me of this 6x4.5 shot I took of a railway bridge in London

My scifi-Maurice Bloom-industrial sublime era.

The pros use focus stacking, macro rails and more careful composition/subject positioning to avoid all these hazy bokeh cloudes. As an amateur I get to dabble and play around :).
On the topic of macro-photography! With all this neewly acquired kit I feel fairly obliged to start taking some macro shots.

So strange how the same images can be so crisp and look like whispy watercolours all at once. Stark and dreamy.

4th iteration of my DIY film scanning setup!

Got an enlarger stand on eBay for a pittance and succeeded in adapting it to mount my camera.

Next up: A tiny lab jack to move the stacked negative and LED into frame in little increments, and hopefully into focus.
